As the title I'm considering getting a new phone (keeping the 3410 as a spare). The phone I'd be after though is a smartphone (able to access google maps) and the ability to put it onto giff gaff.

Can anyone recommend any or what makes I'm best looking at Question

(Budget is low as I've got limited income at the moment)

Any phone you buy from the carphone warehouse is unlocked.
You can put any sim you want in it.

Go nuts. Cheap enough to be considered disposable.

Its actually a decent phone and i was quite impressed felt solid and did everything my htc sensation was doing without any issue. Seems the chinese are starting to get on the ball and make some half decent stuff

The problem with an obscure chinese brand might be when you want a case or new battery.
There are a lot of two year old ex-contract phones for around that price on ebay which should be fine for at least a couple of years.

If not already unlocked it is usually not that difficult to do usually for free.

I'm using an HTC Desire at the moment on GiffGaff. Can pick them up for around £70 second hand.

Does everything I need it to, and can run most modern apps.

Only downside is the lack of memory.

Also it doesn't matter if its unlocked or not, you can do it yourself in about 5 mins, plenty of guides on the GiffGaff site.
