That's certainly an interesting car!
Is it a daily driver or a second car for weekends etc?
Fair play to you for buying something uncommon and unusual in the u.k.

I could be talking utter bollocks, but that Throttle body and intake does not look big enough for 6.3litres nasp though?

Nah not UK , I'm in the USA now .

Pictures don't do the sheer size of the engine justice .

Puts down about 430 at the wheels , already had 170 out of her on a 'private' road Wink

Daily drive is a 2005 Ford five hundred , though when it gets warmer I'll be using it most days .

Makes the 4.7 in my Jeep look pretty pathetic.

Nice motor though!

Have driven a 6.2 V8 Chevrolet Camaro, that felt rather weak, I do wonder if Corvette have made the engine better.

Looks utterly stunning though, I'm in Florida in June so I'll test drive it then Shifty

Noice. Pads, if it's a new shape camaro you're looking at a massive weight and aerodynamic difference between the two, 3200lb for the vette and 3900 for the camaro so a fair disadvantage to the camaro. Think the motor is fundamentally the same. Both quote 430ish at crank and 425lb/ft.

Edit: unless it was automatic, in which case power is down to 400 and 410 respectively apparently due to variable cylinder tech.

Good thing about such a big engine is little mods make a big difference , headers for example add around 25-30bhp
If I decide to replace the cam I'll be looking at a little over 500 at the wheels.

In all honesty though it's fast enough as it is , as mentioned above the engine is used in various other cars but are much much heavier .
it's quite a hand full on cold tyres , but very easy to control a drift .

I drove an 05 M5 AT brands and was underwhelmed by the power because the sheer weight of the thing .

Mpg on highway at 70mph about 28-30 mpg UK
around town maybe 17-18.

It's actually pretty good , fuel is cheap anyway

The Ford was kinda a rush buy when I arrived in the USA.
has awd which is needed where I work , and about 40% bigger than a mondeo.
Mpg of the Ford with its 3.0 v6 (mondro st220 motor) is about the same as the corvette .

It's been fairly reliable the 20k I put on it so far , electric side pretty Shitty but it's a Ford .
AC died , not an issue in the UK but over here with consistent 30c days it's he'll .
That's when I'll be using the vette as a daily drive .

I would get it fixed but refuse to pay $1k.

Drove a mates Z06, loved it. We were sat at traffic lights next to Jack the lad in his 911 convertible. Before the lights changed I revved it so that the exhaust valve opened and the full V8 loveliness could be enjoyed, his jaw dropped!

Lights changed and that was the last we saw of Mr Porsche, but 505bhp is like that!

My C4 is cheaper to run than my 2.4 Merc, if I didn't need something to haul crap around, I probably wouldn't bother with having two cars, I'd stick with the Vette and spend my entire driving life smiling Wink

Plus you have the additional advantage that you're now driving something with a bit of soul and character, not just a collection of parts that a faceless design group thought added up to a sports car.

I drove a 1967 Corvette 427 this summer (GF dad has a collection of classic muscle cars) completely different world to the modern ones but the 7.0L big block V8 sounds awesome Twisted Evil

In the US and Canada the new ones are still are the best value for the money make of high performance car you can get.

Simple to work on really , getting under will require some mean jackstands though .

I nearly bought an old stringray , 1972 , which would have been interesting .

The C3 is a massive step to take if you aren't used to old cars, they are pretty much the epitome of everything the Brits think are good and bad about Yanks.

I went out with the intention of buying one, but they aren't really practical as a regular use car, unless you start with a really tip top example and can afford to keep it that way.

I know things are a bit different over the pond, in terms of parts prices and availabilty of cars, but I reckon you would still have to be pretty dedicated to classics to run a Stingray as a semi everyday car.
