Had a little chat with a guy about his SRAD 600 and he informed me that he had put 10k in to the engine and that it will do 190mph flat out.

I'm not mechanic but unless he had some turbos or NOS or something in there, surely that's total bullshit? (he hasn't btw).

It just sounded like the ped bois saying their 50cc scooter can do 100mph Laughing

Load of sweaty hairy bollocks Laughing

600's on the Isle of Man TT don't get that fast (180 ish iirc) and why would you spend 10K on a SRAD? just buy a liter bike Laughing

Turbo/supercharger would do it, nitrous no fkin chance in roadbike trim. Stock or bored engine forget all about it.

First 600cc roadbike over 200mph was only a couple or three years ago so it's not easy by any stretch.

If a 600 can do 190mph then why did BMW make their superbike 1000cc?

People seem to take the most optimistic figure they've heard, then add a bit cause their bikes got a race can / K&N on it. but the time that figures gone round a few people it's total shite.

Maybe it 'felt' like 190mph to him. Whilst doing wheelies at 120mph and overtaking 10 cars in one go and putting the knee down at roundabouts and then flying to space for a quick trip to the moon.

Maybe the 10K was spent putting a V&M GSXR-though motor in it? Rolling Eyes

I'd rather sell the 600 and use the money plus the 10K to buy a GSXR1000 thats able to do that speed.

Thought they topped out at about 165?
G was saying something about how the litre sports have been getting 'slower' over the last few years, as the shift in emphasis has been away from out-right power and speed to the power delivery and overall dynamic. Plus; the big names all signing up to this agreed 172mph speed restriction, thing.

186mph or 300 kph is the Gentleman's agreement speed. Very easy to get around with TREs.

A GSXR100 K5 I would expect to top out at around a real world 180ish on standard gearing.

They do go fast... I've seen past that speed on one Thumbs Up

My CBR600 is supposed to do 170, time will tell, have seem 160ish on the clock and it has a few rpm to go!

Indicated speeds are Rolling Eyes as I'm sure you know. Wink

Maybe 170 with a tail wind and a whippet Japanese test rider. I think in the real world with dips, crests and pot holes. You'll struggle to see the majority of claimed top speeds. Even if you do have enough straight road.

O and the speedo on many of the restricted bikes, stop reading at an indicated 186 even though the limiter cuts in at an RPM/gear selection value.

Your CBR is also geared for fuel economy as well as top speed. Does it actually have the power to rev out in top gear? On some bikes, down gearing may give you a higher top speed as the engine can then rev out in top gear.

I know, indicated should be standard in all my responses Laughing

Well on the clocks, I may have seen 186...and the bike was still going... obviously indicated Wink

But no, the CBR probably does have a fair bit of power to top out in 6th...it doesn't actually seem that bad, Can't really expect more than a real world 155-160

Might I just add he lives in Australia and added the "10k" over time, not all in one go.

I can see how people spend stupid money on projects, you never intend to spend that amount but just get carried away.

We were talking about bikes and what to get next and I said a few like... Big bang R1, KTM 990, BMW S1000RR as a few off the top of my head... it was then he said he "raced a BMW" and I said "do you mean the beamer humoured you?"...to which he replied, "you have no idea how fast my bike is, I've put 10k in to the engine, all original yoshi parts".

It was 7am this morning and I was borderline retarded and on my phone so couldn't be arsed going in to it. I also knew this would spark an interesting debate on here Laughing

I had an indicated 161 on a runway on my fz6 and that thing has 95 hp, plus the aerodynamic characteristics of a bus so 175 should be realistic on a modern sports bike with ease.

I've seen an indicated 186 on the clocks on my bike, how fast I was actually going is another question.

Same with my Daytona, running out of puff by then though. Oh well, that's more than enough considering how much more go its got everywhere else.

Once knew a lad with a 96 SRAD600. He was adamant that thing did 185mph.

We went for a ride up the motorway, when he got to his top speed, I opened the taps up on my old TLR1000, and pulled away from him.

I was indicating 165mph as I pulled away, and rolled it out to about 175mph (indicated).

What year did they stop making the carbed SRAD? 2001/2002? I know his is a carbed model and the FI came 2002/2003 so it's pre then.

According to Wikipedia... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_GSX-R600

Those models had 91.4–93.1 hp. I fail to see how without the use of turbos or something like that, it could perform like a litre bike with 170-180bhp.

SRAD was stopped in 2000, as the K1 took over in 2001. So from 2001 the 600 has FI.

Maybe he put a dustbin fairing on it? Laughing
