V5 or not V5

Just seen an advert via a facebook group of some minger selling a moped without a V5, this was 4 hours ago.

I asked her in a pm 'Im interested, but do you mind if i contact the police first to make sure the bike is not stolen? if you can give me the reg, i can check it myself without asking the plod. If this bike is legit i will possibly buy it for a project/rebuild.'

Was this an acceptable response to her advert?

Still waiting for response from her.

Edit: this bike is going for £80 Y reg piaggio NRG.

2nd edit: Fuck it, the way i see it is, she has accidentally bought a dodgy bike off from scum relatives and is trying to pass this vehicle on to others, fuck knows where the bike originally come from.

Should i spend new years eve worrying about this shitty ped
