more important why did you go to matlock today?
given that the world is run for my benefit(from my point of view) what did the hundreds of bike riders car users peddle people go there for?
now i understand that i am antisocial(at best).
i accept that there are some really fun roads round there but the A6 and the A615 are hateful roads near matlock
and the a6 in general is horrid in derbyshire.
so what are you people doing parked up in a 1 horse town that you had to queue to get to and same to get out .
whats the attraction?

if you're complaining of the queues on the A6 by chapel-en-le-frith, twas closed due to an accident

not sure of anything other than that.

I'm not really fussed about riding 'to' places, unless the roads there and back are great in which case arriving at the place is inevitable..

Too much emphasis on going to specific places, just to battle for a parking spot, wonder around in sweaty leathers, eating expensive chips..

I've got this great book called Bikers Britain:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0749573961/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1399362825&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX110_SY165

Highly recommend it, detailed routes all over the country, I'm gonna start ploughing through as many as possible when I get my 675R and avoid congested places.

That.

Each to their own, but when I go for a ride, I like to go for a ride. Group rides have far too many stops for fag breaks, phone calls, leg stretching (get a bike that actually fits you?) and ball scratching.

The thought of voluntarily getting stuck in traffic just in order to get somewhere for no other reason than having got there... don't get it. Eh?

I drove to Box Hill to see what all the fuss is about... wasn't too impressed to be honest. The area and the view was nice enough, but seemed like it was a lot of fuss over not very little?

Coming from Dorset, that has places very similar or nicer minus the hordes I wasn't too impressed. I imagine there are better roads around the area that are less populated.

I quite frequently go to Matlock Bath with my dad and its a nice ride if you get there early enough and leave before the posers and cyclists turn up.

Yeah man, like that fairy lit grotto bit - awesome Blackpool in miniature vibe. Also - best bit of matlock ever is that weird old rooftop Victorian outdoor swimming pool filled with monstrous carp, that you can feed with pellets bought from bubblegum machines around the edge. Is that still there??
