Are there any stations in, around or near Chepstow (within say 50 miles), that are open on a Sunday?

Not that I'm impatient or anything, but it's been a whole year since I've been on the road and I just want to be out on/in something.

It would depend if the MOT system even works on a sunday, I doubt it does!

We have a local place that opens on Sundays so its certainly possible to MOT over the weekend. Ours is in Caddishead, Manchester, so not much use to you.

Manchester you say... Thinking hmmm... well the bike hasn't been road tested yet, what's the worst that could happen.

Fisty, I'm sure I've said this before, but I'll say it again anyway... I've rebuilt the bike from the ground up, I'm about 60% confident in my abilities of putting everything back (almost) in the right places... and as with any good DIY project I had a bucket of nuts and bolts left over afterwards.... There is a bit of a difference going up and down a lane a few times reaching 40mph and everything seems fine.... I'm just shitting myself about hitting motorway speeds (ish) and being left sliding along on my arse holding on to just the handlebars because everything else has shook itself to pieces....

You got the address for them?

If you've not got a current MOT you need it to be booked in for one and have the paperwork with you for it to be legal to ride the bike there.

whilst on the subject, will a tyre that has been repaired with a stop&go mushroom or integrated rear indicators/brake light get pulled on a MOT?

Need to get mine done for the first time since owning it and the light was already on the bike and didn't come with the originals and as for the tyre It'd only been on the bike for 60 miles and I get off to find a fucking screw sat nicely in there (hence me not wanting to spend more money on a new one just yet lol)

Just a pre booked MOT will be fine, you require insurance..no need to carry it with you though.

As far as I'm aware, the integrated indicators / brake light is something that will not pass - basically they aren't legal in this country and many originate from the US. I have friends that have failed MOT's for this exact reason.

Andy, would it be for tomorrow? I might know a place that can do it, it's in the Rhondda. Let me know and I'll see what I can do to twist his arm.

There are different requirements for different situations such as C&U, SVA or MOT. I'm not sure whether they are legal for road use but it shouldn't be an MOT failure.

SVA rules say the front indicators must be a minimum of 240mm apart and the rear 180mm but VOSA MOT manual states "The precise position and angle of visibility of direction indicators are not part of this inspection".

Maybe a "fail" had been issued to my friend due to the "non road legal" lights even though this was not part of the MOT test itself? or maybe it's a case of the MOT tester needs to do a bit of swating up on his MOT manual!!

edit :

Would riding with these lights not be an invitation to be pulled by the police even with a valid MOT cert?
