Hey guys,

Bidding finished on the Gs today at £310. Great i think, untill i try to contact the bidder.
I sent him an e-mail straight after the bidding finished and he took ages to reply, i'm talking about 5 hours. i thought this was strange but people said "dont worry, he's probably just set his highest bid and gone out" When he did reply all he did was ask if i would deliver it. At this point i was a bit pissed as he should've asked before the end of the auction. but i politely said yes and old him it'd be an extra £10 for the tunnel (Liverpool Rolling Eyes ) and fuel. Only for him to e-mail me again just now to say, and i quote;
" do ya no what lad forget it ya no ok not intrested any moor just done a check on it and its been insurance damaged at some point"

When i bought the bike i also did a HPI check and it came back clear, unless the one i did wasn't legit i cant see why he's said this other than he's just a scouse tw*t and just doesn't want to pay up.

Has anyone else had an experience like this where they've been told it was insurance damaged just to get out of sale?
Thanks
Sorry if there are anyone from liverpool offended by "scouse tw*t" but this guy does seem to fit the stereotype!

Also, would it state on the V5 if it was insurance write off?

EDIT: Forgot to add, I gave hime my mobile number twice and he did not call, even to arrange pickup. I thought that was a bit suspicious Thinking

Not if it was a Cat C (no idea about Cat A/B).

It's because of things like this - that i avoid eBay as much as possible.

If you think that he's lying then just report him to eBay as a non paying bidder.

If you think there might be any truth in what he's saying then you could try asking him to e-mail you a copy of the HPI check.

How much feedback has he got and how new is the account?

Thats the thing, he has 0 feedback but has been a member for a few years.
The only thing thats making me think theres any truth in this is that there wasn't much of a bidding war, just 3 bidders but thought nothing of it. Also the second highest bidder was bikerecovery sales i think, but it was definately clear before i bought it.

I've notified ebay and i have e-mailed him but i'm not hopefull for a reply Rolling Eyes

I'd do another by a 'reliable' company to be sure. Some even guarantee a payout if it's wrong?

Since I'm aware where the info comes from and how it's distributed there's very little chance it's false - his report shouldn't be different from yours so get asking for a copy now. Thumbs Up

He's probably just using it as a BS excuse. He's buying a 1982 bike for £300 and expects it never to have had a tumble in its life? Another HPI check will cost you money.

Either offer it to the next highest bidder or re-list it, and put a "less than 10 FB bidders will be deleted without prior notice".

Did you claim it was HPI clear in the ad? If not, it shouldn't be an issue anyway.
Unfortunately ebay is heavily biased towards the buyer - non-paying bidder is the only useful way to go really.

That always amuses me as a sniper - so you're going to cancel the bid I put on in the last four seconds of the auction, yes? Wink

I do this aswell. I never put a bid in before the last 10-20 seconds of auction. it only starts a bidding war and makes the price skyrocket.

The only thing that pisses me off is that you can no longer see who the other bidders are. I love getting hate mail from other bidders telling me i'm a ninja and the item was theirs Twisted Evil

Maybe just relist the bike on a shoort auction? I Doubt he's going to pay up.

Bloke's a timewasting bellend. £310 is a good price to pay for a GS125 as well. Great bikes, tough as buggery and sweet handling. Shame there have to be fucking eejits like that to make life difficult.

This.

Not restricted to scouse, either Wink

Non-paying bidder, block him, forget about it, relist.

If I want an item and I know what it'll go for, I'l try get it nearer that price asap cos some people think "if its there now, what will it shoot upto?" Wink

Well i'm not as pissed about it now, at the end of the day, would i really want to sell my bike to him??? only to be ragged to hell and back??? No no no, that wont do Laughing

I got in touch with the 2nd highest bidder (£300) And he asked if i would deliver! Why do people not ask anything before the end of an auction anymore? Is it just me Rolling Eyes

Anyways he lives 120 miles away so i dont think my uncle would fancy driving that far with the trailer.

Anyone know any cheapish bike couriers about?

Also, my uncle informed me that its insurance damage and not the same as write off. So the guy is just being a nobber Evil or Very Mad

Also, mr 27 cows. if i'm not very much mistaken i seem to remember you saying "if i saw a Gs like that pop up, i'd definately snap it up"??? Wink

Laughing

Try putting a request up on shiply: https://www.shiply.com/
I got a c90 with a large box of spares delivered 120 miles or so for £60 - so probably about what I'd have paid in diesel myself, but I didn't have to have the hassle of the long journey there and back etc.

Cheers for the link G, I may pass that onto him. I've just sent him an e-mail asking if he's still interested if i cant deliver. Hopefully he is and can sort out a van or something.
At least this guy doesn't have the sentancing structure of a retard Wink

Make sure you register a non paying complaint with ebay so you get your seller fees refunded. It takes 30 days but its worth it. Next time you sell you can specify no bidders with feedback less than 10. I think its an option under the starting price

Insurance damage and write off is the same thing, when a vehicle is damaged and insurance company write it off with a catagory of damage, A,B,C,D (D being lowest upto A which is a complete crush bike and all spares) This is what turns up on the HPI check that the insurance have wrote it off as a damaged bike..

Yes, ebay will do it for me, I set up rules so that nobody with 0 feedback or with any recent negatives can bid on my auctions. I put a note in saying anyone who has low feedback must contact me prior to bidding so I can guage how serious they are.

Make sure they are legit, things to be delivered by shiply 'companies' have a habit of going walkies
Make sure they have motor trade insurance, goods in transit will NOT cover it since it is a vehicle, ask for proof not just "yeah mate fully covered fer squillions of pounds"
State correct insurances will be required on collection and stick to it, it'll mean less bids since it's a beer money for dolers paradise but better be safe than sorry

thats suck. i recently sold my honda cg on ebay (went for £440) the buyer was a nice young girl just starting out with riding only problem was her dad who came to pick it up was moaning about the bike, i politely told him it was to late to start haggling and that he could have viewed the bike before committing to buy it. eventlally he backed down after we argued for a while and he left with the bike. the whole selling experience using ebay was very stressful and not something i will EVER do again (selling bikes at least) an hour before the aution ended i had loads of calls and emails asking stupid questions like "yo bruv u wanna swap it for a couple of laptops?"!! i was shitting myself that some twat would win it and end up causing my loads of hastile like you have had.

i would just relist it and make your conditions of the sale clear, such as "pick up only" etc and if they win and demand you deliver it tell them to F&*k off unless they pay for the delivery cost themselves prior to delivery, u dont wanna spend your money on delivery costs only to get there and they change there mind. some people on ebay dont take it very seriously as they think theres no come back if they refuse to pay (and there often right unfortunalty) dont be afraid to list all your conditions of sale on the listing that way there can be no disputes after the sale if something like this goes wrong.

good luck hope you get it sorted m8
