Was out playing on a roundabout tonight, for a laugh I said I'd swap my slider for a friends just to take the "newness" away from them for her Laughing

They were plastic ( ? ) spidi ones..

Basically...

For anyone that was at boxhill etc etc. knows that I couldn't seem to keep the bike steady and keep going around in one go etc , kept lifting the bike up slightly so kinda like a 50p shaped roundabout! Laughing

Well basically, tonight, after not doing KD for ages, I was firstly doing the same as before, then I started getting a /bit/ smoother and more consistent, then playing about sticking left leg out and the bike became more stable and I could lean further, I was actually getting the pegs down at this point Shocked and started keeping my knee down for longer.

Then I put the plastic spidis on (instead of my full Ti ones) and suddenly I was lapping the roundabout non-stop with my knee down?!??!?!!?!?

They had a lot more feel etc, and I just felt more stable and so on...

I was going a bit faster so that /could/ explain it Wink but is there a particular reason why normal plastic sliders are a much better feel that the titanium ones?

I do like my titanium ones but tempted to go get some plastic ones again as they feel sooo much better!

Are the plastic ones with the titanium rods in any good?

Good feel but still with sparks? could be a compromise Very Happy

I have some Waki Plaki sliders, they seem fine and can produce some decent sparks. The feel is pretty much the same as the Wurth plastic sliders that I have but every know and again they seem to 'grab' slightly which is usually an indication that some one of the titanium bolts has just been pulled out of the slider. You obviously don't get the sparks that you would from full titanium coated sliders but as you say it is a compromise. Lots of different brands seem to be tested by all the biking press quite regularly and the Waki Plaki ones (sparky and non sparky) are usually rated quite well for their feel and wear rates.
I rate 'em Thumbs Up but I havent exactly tested loads of different ones (Frank thomas, wurth and waki plaki sparky are the only ones I have tried).

It's probably more to do with better speed, but plastic do slide a little less so give a better feel.

I still have no clue where my pink-ish Sparky motrax one's went Sad
