I know we should all be grateful for anything we have got (work wise), but where do these big companies get off in treating their staff so unfairly.

Internal job promotion...

1) Salery offered at interview was reduced by £500 p/a because they can only rise by 5% on internal transfers (informed a week or so after starting).

2) Location of work, altered to a site twice the distance at the last min having been shoved about three sites for 2 weeks whilst they decided. Extra costs in fuel that can be ill afforded.

3) Expected two Sat AM's a month in exchange for two week days off a month, but at this particular site you do three Sat AM's a months for two week days off a month!

4) A sprise staying late every Thursday for two hours (thats an extr 8 hrs a month .. . . bang goes that minute 1k gross paye rise).

5) External new employee in exact same role with zero experiance compared to 3 years experiance on a larger salery.

Joke and a fucking half... feel like throwing a stone through LLoyds banks at the moment.

Is this just a put up shut up, get whatever finance quals they offer and fuck of asap?

Can anything be put in writing to HR?

1 - Calm down. This kind of thinking will get you in debt!

2 - get your CV in order and get it out there. You don't have to put up with this, it's a choice to work for them, but by the look of it your employer doesn't treat their staff very well so putting anything in writing to HR will only make you mad that they don't care.

3 - start networking. Get to know people with nice sounding jobs and see if you can get the route in. If I was asked 'get me a job there' I'd say no. But if I liked the person, I'd tell them the name of the relevant department manager and HR manager...

Didn't you sign a contract when you took the new job?

I found mine the other day (I transfered internally to a better job too) it states my salary and working terms. It says I will be expected to work weekends as and when required but isn't cleared my rule was if they aren't unreasonable with me then I wouldn't be unreasonable with them. So far it is worked out fine.

It's not me.

But your right, complaining and getting ignored would make it worse.

No contract 6 weeks in so nothing in writing.

Already applied for jobs and got two possible interviews already... Frew grand more.

But leaving would mean missing out on the certainy of a qualification that might not be gained elsewhere.

Company I work for does the same ref saleries.. newbies with no experiance doing lesser jobs on bigger wages.

In my experience, HR exists as a platform for you to make them aware that you are a trouble maker, and they can begin proceedings to "manage you out of the company" as I've heard it put several times.

Speak your mind with your feet, as in walking away to a better job/workplace as soon as an opportunity presents itself.

As far as employment goes, anything they initially said to you verbally would count the same as a written contract.

Proving they said it is another matter although HR will have records of the initial offer (was there a letter stating the offer).

Complain, do not stand for it, you have rights as an employee.

It was all verbal in the interview/post interview chat. There is no proof, the lady admitted she had agreed that but could not hold to it because of the 5% policy, so dropped it.

Other girl doing same job with 0 experiancxe is on 6.5k more.. I know, we agree to our own, but he agreed X and got Y. Makes it worse tho.

Its £500, not much huh, but it pays the Gas bill for the year... and when you struggle with bills it makes a difference.

Unfortunately that's exactly how they want you to feel.

This Government is taking us back to the Victorian era as, I suspect, will the next and the next.

Shame that there is not a gender difference between you and the other worker doing the same job. This would be in breach of pay equality laws.

Also they have 2 months from start date to provide you with a written contract. If you haven't signed one yet then there is still time to negotiate - you are not bound by a contract as you do not have one.

OK, got a bit confused with the whole thing.

If there is a difference in wage between male and female, for a job that is comparable then it "could" be in breach of equality laws.

Google equality law and pay and have a look.

This government and previous governments over the last thirty years have systematically eroded the rights and benefits that all our ancestors fought for. That is of course unless your ancestors happen to be the owners of big business interests, former pupils of eton or just a plain old lord, born into power or gifted it by the other said arseholes above. Unfortunately the capitalist society we all find ourselves in is only destined to failure, it's success depends wholly on constant economic growth. hahaha. Which we all know comes at the expense of the slaves/people (you and me). This is why we are earning less, working more, and just to add insult to injury the price of the commodities we all NEED to live (food energy etc) keeps getting jacked up and up. Energy companies profit every year without fail, then cream off the profits to the shareholders, no savings passed on to us. REDISTRIBUTE THE WEALTH. Peace and love. Need to vent that.

Can't you just say you have changed your mind, the conditions imposed no longer make the move/change worth while to you.

This is the important bit. If this qualification sets her above others then it's important. How much longer does she have to go to get the qualification? Does the qualification lead to bigger salaries?

Sometimes you have to do the shit before it gets better. If the qualification leads to bigger and better jobs, stay, get it then quit. In the exit interview tell them exactly why you're going.

So what are we saying here? That Lloyds Bank is a scumbag company that either couldn't organize a piss-up in a brewery or has bent/corrupt staff on board giving out preferential treatment in return for back-handers and/or sexual favours?

Quelle suprise. As with all banks it's staffed at the higher levels by sub-human vermin. Donchano.

Ee, I do believe that's my first "vermin" of the year! Very Happy

Ive had worse. Small businesses are no different. If they think they can get away with it, they will try. Sadly, I let them. I suspect your job is quite a good once to begin with and not a minimum wage thing like I had last.

Are you otherwise happy with the job and the people you work with? if so I say keep it for a while. that is unless you can get jobs easy. For me it takes a lot of effort.

otherwise, have some fun before giving in your notice Smile
