Hello folks,

Been putting it off for ages but the rip in my seat has finally gone halfway down the seat, so it's time for a recover!

Been looking on ebay at waterproof Vinyl etc and at treated leather but can't really decide what to do without spending the earth.
The seat is just a standard plain black Vinyl covering atm and i'm happy to replace it with that if i can find the stuff.

SO, what would you/anyone recommend? get some material and cut it to size then stretch/staplegun down (as is atm) or get a proper seat cover fitted? Checked the price for an actual seat cover, and it's almost the same price as a whole new seat so would rather not go down that route.

cheers, Matt

cheers mate, looked at that one myself!
was a bit worried about sizing (1m x 0.7m) cos it's a stupid super wide cruiser seat, but that kit should work wonders.

When I done my gpz seat I just bought a square meter of faux leather from a material shop for £7... I could have done 2 seats the same size if I wanted to.

Don't know if you've recovered a seat before, but I found a few seconds with a heat gun was great for getting it to stretch better

It might be a stupid question but can you not get a replacement cover?
I got one from ebay for my 30 year old Honda for about £20 IIRC.
Easy to fit too.

Brother got one for his ninja expecting it to just fit, but instead it would need to be stapled on basically because of the type of material it was. If it could have been sewed/ machined my mum would've done it no problems. Ended up taking it to a clothing alteration stall in a local market and got them to tack it on to the plastics underneath with the right type of stapler. £5 well spent.

Point is not all the covers on eBay are straight forward swaps if their that cloth material.

if you have little money, find an old sofa and cut the back material off ( vinyl and fabric ) which is water proof, else save and get a repro or better.........
