How much do Gilera runner 2t 125 mopeds usually sell for? I've seen them go for £500-£1100 on ebay. My friend has been offered one for £400, he wants to work on it and sell it for a bit of profit, but until now he's only worked on small geared bikes, 50's 125's etc, the moped has had an engine rebuild, approx 30k miles on the clock, 5k miles on the engine, i think its an 05 plate, everything works, engine starts first time cold, any idea will be appreciated cheers.

£400 sounds a steal if it's all genuine mate. Mopeds are easy enough to work on as well even at beginner levels. Thumbs Up

Thanks guys, he went ahead and bought it for £350, it needs the break pads replaced, and the starter switch has stopped working, any ideas on that? also the top speed is roughly 60mph on the speedo, I've read that the gilera runner sp 125's should fetch 70 on most days, would this mean there's something wrong with the engine or set up?

Sounds like a good buy, brake pads are a cheap easy fix, top speed of 60 does sound a bit low, may need a new belt, but could be a number of things. Starter could also be a number of things, but most likely to be the bendix inside the casing, again easy fix.
If you/he are not too sure, best thing would be to take to a local bike shop, they would be able to tell you whats what and costs etc.
If you can give a bit more info on the starter prob I may be able to advise more. Does it make a noise (whirring) or click or nothing at all.
Maybe loose wires to starter motor.

There was a single click in the 2 minutes of trying to electric start it, also there is green 2 stroke oil in it, isn't it supposed to be red? whats the difference.

A click usually indicates a starter solenoid fault. You can test this by shorting out the two terminals. Put a screwdriver across the two terms. (dont hold it for long, just enough to spin the motor).
If it spins the starter it needs replacing, assuming there are good tight connections. Also check the earth wire is making good contact. Although if you have held the starter button in for 2 mins, you are likely to have burnt out the starter motor.
Both are an easy fix, the starter can be fiddly to get to the 2 fixings, but not hard to change.
I would agree about the 2 stroke oil, either drain and refil with good quality oil or top up with good oil if its low.
