... with this pitiful amount of info.

In school we read a book that was awesome but we never got to finish it for some reason.
I can only remember a few things about it though.

Based on the moon or another planet.
A colony or base.
2 kids steal a moon buggy / rover type thing.
Find a crazy cave and crazy shit happens.

Any help would be awesome.

"Juvenile science fiction" recommendations for my 9 year old, go.

Everything from Project Gutenberg already got, including Astounding Tales of Super-Science.

You could jump on the Hunger Games bandwagon there, it is a decent read really.

There is of course, 1984, everyone should read this to at least prepare for what we have to come Neutral

I'll also mention Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and I'll write no reason why, it is not needed Thumbs Up

I read a lot of books when I was younger, and don't particularly like kids, so I'm unsure if any of those are suitable or not, if not, I can try and think of some more.

Citizen of the Galaxy or Tunnel In The Sky by Robert Heinlen. Good for kids or adults.

The sort of books that you are afraid some noncy American will decide to turn into a film and ruin it (then make 5 sequels)

Oh, he'll be invested in the Classics soon enough, but 9 year olds get an easy ride these days - there's loads of accessible stuff specifically aimed at them, but it seems to be mostly dragons and ghoulies and such.

I'm looking for something that's a bit silly / funny and simply written so that I can segue him into rocketships and rayguns.
