Got my mod 2 at burton on trent, Just checked the weather, light snow is predicted.

Whats the chance of it being cancelled ? its at 11:15

Should i call them in the morning?

I live just outside burton ( ten minutes from the test centre) and the snow this morning is very very light..the roads are clear and actually it has just started to rain. So dont worry too much...you may be ok.

If its any help I can give you updates throughout the day, tonight and in the morning if you want...if you dont live local.

If it's at all safely possible, get to the test centre on time. If you can't get there, give the centre a ring if you can find their number, or 0300 200 1122 if you can't. If you don't attend or contact them, and the examiners are prepared to take the test, you may lose the fee.

Sorry Guys, Currently got exams and was unable to check the forum, But i called them and they advised me that it has been cancelled

booked again for the 16 of jan, fingers crossed. Very stressful times as i have Exams at university and also want to get the Bike test done before the 19th lol

This was the second time it has been cancelled, first on the 31st, when at garrets green it was too windy and yesterday Damn snow.

Lets hope its third time luck Smile

Im surprised its been cancelled. Theres been no snow overnight and the roads are clear by the test centre.

Lazy Dsa staff again....load of fairweather numpties at Burton im afraid. When I had my mod2 there it was raining and the examiner took a car to follow in cos of the conditions (can you get any more lame)

Bad luck, and +1 to them being a bunch of pussies.

I passed on March 30th 2010 in weather that could best be described as apocalyptic.

For mod 2, if you can make it to the test centre on a motorcycle, there's no reasonable excuse for the test not going ahead. Unless the highly trained DSA examiners reckon they're not as good as a Learner rider.

Well at Burton the main road goes almost right up to the test centre car park......whats happened (most likely) is that the roads are totally clear but their car park isn't. ....so instead of someone using a bit of initiative and getting their early to salt the car park and get it clear...theyve done f*ck all and thought "oooohhh, that car park is slightly icy, wouldnt be good health and safety to get bikers coming onto it..let's cancel all the tests and have a day in the warm office"

W*nkers!!!

There are genuine people desperate to get their tests done and those arseholes at DSA have done absolutely NOTHING to help the situation or improve peoples chances of getting a test done and/or reducing test wait times.

Makes my blood boil that nobody at DSA had the gumption to sit down and see what they could do to help. They could have easily worked longer/ extra days to clear the backlog. ...could have cleared those few leaves off the course beforehand to enable the test to go ahead, gritted the carparks etc etc.

But why would they when they can lazily and inefficiently bury their heads in the sand and cancel tests at a whim whilst making no extra dates/ times available....and in doing so force everyone under 24 to takes umpteen tests to get to a big bike and rake in that extra money.

Rant over.

I don't know the examiners at Burton, but they can't just 'take the car' because of the weather. They are not allowed to use their own bikes or cars for the tests, for insurance reasons, so if a bike is not available, for whatever reason, they have to use a hire car, supplied by the DSA.

It's very easy to blame the examiners for cancelling tests, but they don't want to do it, they have the full picture, something you probably do not.

Im just going by what the examiner told me to my face on my mod2....he categorically said he was going to be following in a car due to the conditions. He was either blatantly lying or was just humouring me....and trust me, the guy wouldnt know humour if it jumped up and smacked him in the face.

Now, wether or not it was a hire car or his own car I have not got a clue....its unimportant.

No, the bikes are all DSA owned.

Puma, you were on test, I suspect that like a lot of people, the humour used goes straight over their heads.

After he told me I had passed and was writing out my certificate I tried a bit of humour with him and he was still stone cold and dead pan. Laughing

He wasnt the only one that morning that followed in a car......so I dont know what to believe. But he definitely said it was due to the conditions and if it was just because he didnt have a bike I dont know why he didnt just say that?

Anyway, im grateful he passed me ....immensely grateful considering it was probably the worst id ridden since taking up biking. Neutral

Same fellow for both my swings at Mod 2. Used a bike the first time, and a car the second during the Snowpocalypse, which I found much less distracting. Decent and fair chap, he did lighten up once he'd said the magic words "I'm pleased to tell you..".

I rather suspect that arriving at the test centre in one piece got me a "You came in that?" pre-emptive pass. Wink

Not only do I meet and talk to examiners at 2 different centres on an almost daily basis, I am personal friends with a couple from elsewhere. There are set rules about the vehicles they can use.

The examiners who have bikes allocated to them can take them home, and so it may seem they are their own, but they are not. They are mostly BMW and Honda, white or silver, and most with orange high viz panels (but not the supervising examiners, whose bikes are plain).
There are 4 bike examiners at the centre I mainly use (Taunton), but only 2 bikes issued, so today for instance with 3 working on bike tests, the head examiner there was using a hire car.

DAMN WEATHER, I guess i am not meant to get my Mod 2 this year this prior to 19th.

The road looks like it has been snowing all night, but just fucking ICY, no snow, I got a 28 mile ride to burton from birmingham along the A38.
I bet even if i get there, there are gonna be lazy gits and say that the test has been cancelled.

Test is at 9:17, I doubt it will go ahead, plus it looks too dangerous for me to ride there then.
