Needed a new front brake lever and front ride indicator. Bought them both on eBay from the same seller, who claims to provide combined postage costs. They STILL charged me the full shipping costs on both items, oh well, only £2.50 down so far.

I realised just after ordering that I forgot to change the shipping address to my uni address, so I politely messaged them firstly asking about the delivery to uni, then about the combined shipping. They decided to let me know I had to pay full price on shipping, but said nothing at all about where the items were being posted to.

After a second message they responded, telling me that they always post to the address on the order. I explained this was my parents house... they've now sent the parts there, whilst my bike is a £20 train ride away, or £10 of fuel riding my bike with no front brake and a busted right indicator.

What a jobs worth :/

A lot of people on eBay will only send to the address received with the order, this protects them from people saying items haven't turned up when they have. Especially with eBay being so biased towards buyers.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Thumbs Up

So you made a mistake by giving him the wrong shipping details and you're having a rant because he's not happy to lose his Seller Protection by posting it out to any old address.

You made a mistake and informed the seller you gave them the wrong address but it was too late as the process of shipping to your parents had already started.

Thats not the sellers fault thats YOUR fault.

If the advert states combined postage, it will 99% of the time be for identical items, same size weight ect...... You bought 2 different items.

If the sellers total did not total up correctly to include the combined postage message them to change it. If they dont, dont pay, simple?

people like your are the equivalent of a 1 watt light bulb in the lighting industry.

People who ask to change delivery address after buying are a real pain, no sympathy.

Granted, I see why asking to change delivery address is a pain, especially with all the scammers about on eBay.

Problem there is with eBay though, as they ALLOW you to change the address before ordering, but not afterwards.

Take Amazon for example, they allow you to change the delivery address so long as it's before dispatch. This woulda suited me perfectly because I realised as soon as I clicked the button to buy the item that I forgot to change the address.

So that's crap on eBay's part.

In regards to the combined postage, they clearly offer it on ANY item, not just the one I ordered.. and fair enough, I wouldn't mind if they sent the two items separately, but they've clearly saved money by posting the items together.

Yeah I'm bitter, but when you've got a bike that would be perfectly ridable, yet it's now 50 miles from being fixed, it's a bit of a pain.

Not really, it just means that you can't use ebay properly. Maybe you should stick to Amazon as it takes less thought...

If it helps, I asked eBay, and it hates you too.
