I worked at Sony during the PS1->PS2 switch over, and all I can give you is a vague answer. It depends on the developer...
- If Rockstar haven't created the functionality to auto transfer your save then you're unlikely to be able to do it easily.
- You may be able to get the save over to the new device, but you're still using a PS3 that uses the Sony libraries for saving and retrieving data which probably don't play nice with dodgy bits of hardware.
- I expect if you had a 1st gen PS3 you'd be able to access those m/c files when playing PS2 games on the PS3.
- your last option would be to get the data over to a PC along with a brand new save, you may just be able to figure out the save game format, munge the two files together and get it back on the PS3. Then you just have to hope that Rockstar haven't altered the save format internally and it is just the Sony libraries. ____________________ current: ducati monster 750
