Definately NOT tacking the bike out today or for a while that`s for sure.

Went out in the car today and the themometer read -12.5c Shocked and that was at 9.30am in the morning, not like I`d expect at 5.30am.

How low did it go where you are ?

I have no idea how cold it was here this morning. The bike doesn't have a temperature display on it. Wink

I had water flick up from cars and freeze on my visor today.

I arrived toasty apart from my feet... trainers are terrible in the cold. Laughing

Today was bearable, tomorrow has freezing fog forecast and I can't be bothered with the visor icing up every 5 seconds again so I'll be using the train tomorrow methinks...

Wanted to cry. My hands were so painful, but then I am wearing summer gloves. Need a pair of winter ones really. Laughing

It takes me about 40-ish minutes to get to work in the morning. About half the 17-mile distance is dual carriageway (A40) and then traffic-light racing. When I got in, most of my pinky on the right hand was numb and I was starting to lose feeling in my toes as well.

I was seriously layered up, starting with a merino wool base layer, jeans, shirt and jumper with thermal-backed textiles on top, gloves with liner and muffs, etc.

I've ridden through colder, but only a degree or so. It was very cold.

About -2 I think, not too bad. Gotta watch once it's as low as -12, the salt on the roads stops doing its job.

Went out for a nice 60 mile ride yesterday. Wore thermal base layers, then t-shirt and joggers, then bike gear which has like 3 or 4 layers in it, then muffs on handle bars,

....didn't get cold at all.

Bike was pretty stable, But I felt the back end twitch from rolling over a few wet spots on the road that were possibly turning to ice.

I'm not liking the sound of this approaching snow though, roll on March Praying

I bought a week's season ticket to get to work this week on the train - but I forgot to take it with me today. I had my share of danger as I didn't buy another one Thumbs Up

Sounds like we follow similar routes only I start a little further out around High Wycombe on the M40.

With the very excellent Tucano Urbano muffs in place, heated grips and a heated waistcoat under textiles I was very comfortable thank you very much. My commute last around 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic levels. Much longer than that and the cold starts to seep through my defences. I nearly had to bomb out of the City today on an emergency run to Milton Keynes and wasn’t relishing an additional couple of hours of motorway journey, but luckily it got cancelled.

Fitted Tucano Urbano muffs yesterday, hands are now lovely and toasty Smile

Tyres are still shit on ice though so I am keeping riding to a minimum in this really cold weather!

Temperature wise not bad at all. Been in much much worse. Not taking the bike out tomorrow the black ice was horrific.

Coldest I have ridden in is minus 12. Though, I think this reading was a "micro climate" at my destination, it was more like minus 6.

I thought I saw a dead magpie, but it was a dead crow with frost on it. Only in my own town though, wouldn't have ventured further.

Didn't want to risk it today, sub zero all day. Yesterday, I rode 100 miles between about 3 and minus 2 .

Freezing, absolutely freezing. My car doesn't get a chance to warm up at all on my 1.7 mile commute. Tomorrow I'm going to pop a jacket on.

Depends whether one likes the icy touch or not.

On the slower roads, if I see ice, I slow down as much as poss before hand, both feet down and out and sorta tripod my way over it. Stick too main roads as much as possible though where cars have melted the ice for me.

I live in town, busy roads = no ice.
I then hit the motorway = no ice.
I then hit a very bust town/city = no ice.

My route has (or should have) no real disaster areas Thumbs Up

Oh dear ... I optimistically covered my bike with an old curtain and some plastic bags, hoping that the already-icy conditions at 9 o'clock this evening wouldn't affect it too much.

Today was JUST bearable, I had two layers of everything on, and I reckon its gonna be moodier tomorrow morning. If I even see a HINT of ice, I could be on that train...

OR I could have snored-up this very bad head cold into sinusitis overnight Thinking

Just back from work, theres a temprature clock thingy on the way home. It was reading 0 when I was out earlier, 0 when I was going to work, -1 when I was coming home.

How cold was it for me?

Fine actually. Warmish gloves, winter jacket, textiles over my jeans, neck cosy. I was pretty cosy actually.

Y'all a bunch of nancies!
