Which phone should i keep?

I've just been given a brand never used Sony Xperia X10 by my sister, but i've just a few days ago re-newed my contract with orange, and been given a phone upgrade to a Sony Xperia J.

I assume the Xperia J is a more powerful better handset than the X10, but it's still boxed and un-opened, so im thinking should i use the X10 phone and just sell the Xperia J, or am i missing out on any decent features/improvements by not using the Xperia J?

I noticed that the camera on the X10 is 8mp and the J has a 5mp camera?

Quick scan of specs suggests to me that, at the time they were each released, the Xperia J was a slightly lower-end phone than the X10 was.

But because the Xperia J is so much newer, it beats the X10 almost everywhere, except things that change a bit slower, like the camera.

If you're not feeling the limitations of the X10 - and you should / would be feeling them if you use a lot of apps and keep them up to date - then it seems slightly pointless to upgrade.

It also depends on what your budget is. If you could rely on Google getting Nexus 4 supply problems sorted out, I'd sell the boxed phone (presuming you can get close to its list price) and get one of those instead. The Nexus 4 is very very close spec-wise to phones that have, for the past few years, cost £500+, but at half that price.

But I use my phone (currently Galaxy Nexus) a lot, and not as a phone, but as a mini tablet, a lot of browsing, apps etc. Your use case may be different.

Keep the X10 and send the other phone back and dont have a contract? Will work out better money wise than selling it then.
