I was in a bit of a surprise the other day when I was out on the A38. I hadn't really explored the bike in terms of top speed yet, so thought it was a good opportunity as the road was pretty clear.

I took it to about 75 in 5th, knocked into 6th to find the revs dropping and they wouldn't rise above around 7000. So I put it back into 5th, let the revs rise into the peak power (about 8000) to about 85, and knocked it again into 6th. Same thing happened.

OK, the question therefore is...is the bike restricted as I was told it was a full power model. It's an Irish import NSR125RX. It does 0-40 in about 3 seconds. Why does it seem to go faster in 5th?

Ooh, and another question, can you alter the bite point of the clutch easily. After having it looked at the other day, the engine is sweeter and the clutch more responsive but the bite point is much different and it's taking me a while to adjust.

Hi

If it is a full power bike then it will have peal power at about 10000rpm, or more. Changing up at lower revs means the engine is dropping out of the power band and has not got the power to pull that speed at those revs.

Basically thrash it a bit more and see if that "cures" the problem.

All the best

Keith

Thanks for that. I'll try getting to the redline (11000) in 5th tonight before changing and see if it helps. Thumbs Up
