I am in the market for a new leather jacket. So decide to pop to Metropolis.

After taking a walk round I ask a guy who has been leaning on the counter looking at his phone if he has a certain jacket in stock and all he does is give me a blank look, shake his head slowly and then back to his phone.... well thanks,

Thought I might aswel check their Ducati range. quite a lot of people in there so couldnt see where the 848 was. A salesman walks by me and I ask where can I find the 848 and all he says was 'check the sides of the bike and you will find it wont you''...... well thanks you c*nt

That is all

Poor customer service means you wont go there again, = their loss!

Oh, they sound like absolute cards, you're just got the sniffles because you mistook their fine establishment for the sort of tawdry Temple of Mammon where money can be exchanged for goods and services. Tut Tut

Sounds like most bike shops I've ever been in, I never cease to be amazed at the anti sale techniques they employ.

Most recently pitched up at my local Hardley dealer, doing my best to look like archetypal mid life crisis man (parked my Merc on their front and everything) and then got totally ignored for 20 minutes.

Since I was only going to see if I could get excited about their products, then discovered I really wasn't, I couldn't be arsed to actively seek out the one person in the place that might be interested in the cash I had burning a hole in my pocket.

It pays to find a good decent shop you can trust and rely on. My local always try and price match at least. A good start when your competing against the World Wide Web.

not just carping here but really, never met anyone in trade who wasn't either a surly old man or a total darren. be it wideboys like dk or the local 'ex racer' who used to charge me £20 to fit tyres to lose wheels. heh. best was a dealer who charged me £10+VAT for a split link after I lost mine in derby somewhere. oh and the 'minimum service charge' of £14.50+VAT to re-tension the chain after I put it on.

too many nice people in the bike biz. explains why so many of em aren't there anymore. Mr. Green

When I was first looking at getting a bike, I travelled to one shop to have a look at what they had in stock and although, I had done a bit of research into biking, it was still very new to me.

So, I walked up to the guy working there (I'm pretty sure he was the owner) and explained to him that I was looking to buy a 125 and as I am new to biking I would be grateful of some advice/info on what he had in stock that may be suitable for me.

It was as though that as soon as he realised that I wasn't a highly experienced hardcore biker, he just brushed me off and offered me no assistance whatsoever. So I left.

However, another bike shop I approached were and have been extremely helpful from day one and in just under 18 months, have had about £13-14,000's worth of business through me, while the other shop has not and never will get a penny of my cash.

Strangely enough, I often ride past the first shop and it rarely appears to have any customers in there. I don't know how they stay in business. The other shop always has a few people in it at least.

it seems to be a uk thing. people here just dont seem to grasp service as a catalyst to success. its all about them doing you a favour by gouging your eyes out and selling them back to you slightly squashed.
seems to be post-thatcherite smash n grab short termism abides everywhere in this green and pleasant land nowdays. start a high street business with huge overheads then employ some feckless kid on 6 quid an hour to act like he's doing you a favour by not beating you up the moment you set foot inside the sanitorium. fecking hate the way this country has gone in that regard tbh.

thank fuck for the internets curb stomping all these negros out of their misery. most places round my parts dont even sell tyres anymore. no point. cant compete yadda yadda whah whah whah. GOOD. Mr. Green Thumbs Up shoulda tried giving a fuck and moving with the times. plenty of successful businesses have made the transition from apron clad dinosaur to internet morris men. no sympathy for the ones that fall by the wayside. they nearly all universally deserve it. Karma same with the pubs and clubs. and the book shops and the coffee shops etc etc etc.

I'm looking forward to seeing halfords, dixons, quick fit et al die on its arse within my lifetime. amongst others! that while john lewis grows year on year and shares the profits with the people who make it for them. no brainer or what? THATS SOCIALIST I hear you cry. iknowrite. mental. never catch on ..

wow I is mad yo.

Far and away the most friendly, helpful outfits I've been into were the ones selling cheap 125s (Jinluns and recently WK branded bikes). It's been the "proper" bike dealers that have given it "There's the bikes, you're lucky I'm not charging you for wear and tear from looking at them."

I believe you're supposed to let slip some nipple, or at least sidemoob.

A chalk and cheeser here for the North/West Londoners.

Went to Infinity Motorcycles on the A406 / Hanger Lane roundabout. When I walked in the staff greeted me with a 'good afternoon'. Looked at jackets when a friendly fella walks up 'excuse me sir, can I help with anything?'. Shocked at hearing the words I almost bought a new jacket, but alas, was over priced, and a lack of funds tugged. I did however spend some time there and dusted the moth balls off my wallet to buy a disc lock alarm. The whole time the staff were attentive and chatted happily amongst themselves. An upbeat atmosphere for a shop. If I have a decent wedge of money for new gear, will deffo consider Infinity. Thumbs Up

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=infinity+motorcycles&ll=51.552526,-0.286674&spn=0.122109,0.198441&client=ubuntu&channel=fs&oe=utf-8&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=infinity+motorcycles&hnear=London,+United+Kingdom&t=h&z=12&iwloc=D

After visiting the fine establishment, I headed across the road (literally 30 secounds away) to the Hanger Lane Hein Gericke store.

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=hein+gericke&hl=en&ll=51.549751,-0.280151&spn=0.122116,0.198441&sll=51.552526,-0.286674&sspn=0.122109,0.198441&t=h&gl=uk&hq=hein+gericke&z=12&iwloc=C

The difference couldn’t have been more obvious. 3 miserable cunts of staff looking at each other in a cloud of gloom. Not a single hello. Barely an acknowledgement. After walking about for 5 minutes I felt that I should ask 'Can I help you?' to the staff they looked so sodding miserable. No wonder they had financial issues. Thumbs Down

I eventually found my way to Get Bike.

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=get+bike&hl=en&ll=51.549751,-0.298004&spn=0.122116,0.198441&sll=51.552526,-0.286674&sspn=0.122109,0.198441&t=h&gl=uk&hq=get+bike&z=12&iwloc=A

GetBike is where most people in the Hayes too West London stretch do their CBT's and they have a little shop there. Its super cramped, but the jackets are more affordable (£100'ish). I was greeted by the staff and instructors as I made my way to the shop. I bought a Tuccano Urbano short jacket.

So there we go.

North/West London Shops : Thumbs out of 3

Infinity Motorecycles Thumbs Up Thumbs Up ~ Good service, expensive

Hein Gericke Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down ~ Crap service, expensive

Get Bike Thumbs Up Thumbs Up ~ Average service, decent prices

I'm not so sure, tbh I know what I want before I visit and seek it out pay and leave.

While in Central/Eastern Asia shop folks will follow you around the shop and announce loudly that they are here to help...

Its kinda creepy.
