Well got the bike dropped off today while I was at work from its MOT which it passed (was expecting a fail) Very Happy

Thought to myself wouldn't mind going to work on the bike tomorrow as its been a while, so lubed the chain up checked my fuel (No gauge) looked like I had just enough Very Happy

So off I went sticking to 30 all the way low revs trying to increase fuel efficiency, got a mile up the road and could hear this vibrating buzzing noise, thought to my self WTF? I had the wheel off the front last week so pulled over to check the front wheel just in case.

Turned out it was my fuel pump ! The noise it makes to prime the carbs when I turn the ignition on but it wasn't stopping, checked the tank bloody empty ! Still had 3L in reserve but the bloody fuel tap was snapped by previous owner!!!

Off I went pushing the bike up a huge hill to get to the local bp garage pushed it about 1.5 miles Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing Embarassed

Never mind but thought I would share the joys of my evening with you !

Cheers,

Cameron Thumbs Up

Silly question... until you can replace the fuel tap, can't you just switch the On and Res lines?

I don't know anything about the bike and don't know if it's all done in the tank or seperate pipes into the tap.

Anyway I've had a similar thing happen to me with my intruder, I went to a scrap yard in Coleford (I think... or Cinderford? Somewhere like that anyway), I'd checked the petrol before I left and thought I had enough to get me there and back to a petrol station on the way.... I'd just got down a massive hill from the scrapyard and the bike cut out... after shaking it I found the tank empty and the tap on Res... I remember passing a petrol station at some point so figured I would push the bike. Turns out it was about 4 miles away and because my ticker was a bit f**ked at the time it took me almost 3 hours to walk.
