just got my VFR400 NC24 today bike needs some work mainly fork seals and clock craydel is broke, neutral light not working and the bike has done 60000K (42000 miles) engine looks like it has never been touched, does anyone know how long the honda V4 usually lasts for before it blows.

Well the slightly more advanced NC30 lump can go around the clock as long as you keep changing the oil every 3 or 4 k.

NC24... Well its less impressive. If you get the valve clearance done, make sure its by someone who has done VFR400 valves a few times before.


Are you doing the fork seals yourself? Its an utter cunt of job on those forks.

Everyone i speak to says those v4s are bulletproof. No Exaggeration. 100,000k miles + ive heard...

Do as rob says, valve clearences and servicing and it'll go on for ages.

Ive got the cbr400 with about 26,000 miles and it runs so nicley. the carbs need balancing though/adjusting, but apart from that it runs really well.

Hope it lasts at least as long as yours...Cant see why it wouldnt...
