Took my vada on its first longish run since buying it yesterday. I completely forgot what it felt like to over take traffic at will! Felt amazing! I may never need to buy another bike again! Found out with my 11 stone bum on my bike it tops out at just over 80mph before hitting the limiter.

Also done 258miles before needing to fill up. Works out to 90ish mpg

Cannot wait to start touring later this year.

This is still a 125, though, isn't it? Keep that happiness going for a while by not trying a 500+ until you are ready to take your test. You won't be able to go back.

I think he has taken his test. His bike pics don’t have L plates on them. Think he just likes 125's Smile

Passed my test on my XR! Done no training, failed mod 1 once and passed mod 2 first time with 2 minors. Forgot to do my life saver when moving off and taking slightly too long to pull out onto a roundabout. It was raining so hard! I think mod 2 is just like a cbt tbh.

still not had my 33bhp removed from my licence and that ran out in 2011 lol

I've not ridden the Varadero 125, just sat on one. Yes, it is a bit bigger than the CBF I had, but only claims a bhp or two over that and my CBF regularly achieved 100MPG hauling my 11.5 stones. Does the Varadero really feel that much more powerful? I must admit to being a little confused by this model's god-like reputation.

I test rode the CBF and CBR before buying the vada. The vada is a class of its own mate. It hits and holds 70 with no problem at all! Keep the revs between 9k and 12k and the bike gives you a kick of power.

It is very hard to believe it is a 125! You can drop from 5th doing 60 to 4th to over take on the flat which shocks the hell out of me.

Also power wise both the CBF and CBR felt the same but the CBR had more of a big bike feel to it. The seat on the CBF was nasty! Another big difference is the gear box is amazing on the vada. Both the CBF and CBRs gears felt clicky and no way near as smooth as the vada.

258 miles is a lot... you must do around 60mph usually to get that.

I probably get 3 journeys to work and back so 180-190 miles to a tank but it does sit at about 11k most of the way.

I wouldn't say it can overtake, more pass slow moving traffic. Even a 250 would be stretching it for overtaking. But yeah, it is a lovely bike. I love the fact mine just starts on the button and cruises at 70 on the motorway.

i've no idea what miles to the tank I get from the hornet, i generally top up after 100

that's normally about 10.5 litres. tank takes 17 litres so maybe about 160 miles ish to dry?

Depends what year Hornet. Good luck getting much more than 130 from an 03-06. Silly tank design means it's tricky to get the full 17 litres in. The tank does look pretty though. Can get 160 miles out of the 954 on the motorway if I'm grannying it. Thumbs Up Half that if it's getting hammered.

The Hornet is known for its low miles to a tank.. some people get 100, some less Laughing

oh lordy, it's an 03.

I'll see if it gets me home tonight without filling up as i'm at 100 when i got to work this morning, i'd like to hope it can at least get a few more as it should have at least 6 litres of fuel left in there...

Guess i'll find out if the fuel warning light works though

Right,

Have you ridden a CG? That is slow and dull. Compared to a big bike, yes the Vara is slow. But to me, its still one of the fastest 4 stroke 125s on the market.

My light came on at some point, 15 miles later it died, its not a great warning time especially on the motorway Laughing

You must of had a really crap one. 80mph on a 4t 125 is amazing! Will hold 75 all day long. Has to be the fastest 125 4t out there. The CBR had nothing on my vada.

Yet to sit and hold a YZF R125 on the motorway but I've seen 2 engines turn to mush now... so I'm happy with the reliable little twin.

My GT indicated 92 2 up down a hill once, GPS was 86, but it was a hill so probably easier to eek a few mph out (limiter was far higher and gearing was a bit longer.)

Funny you say that. I have seen two YZF's broken down. I helped one which just cut out for no reason. Couldn't get him back on the road so he called the AA.

I dont think you will see many of them YZFs with 72k on the clock.
