I was considering lowering my rear shock a little as it has been on it's highest position since I bought the bike in June, will lowering it down a little have any handling benefits? Thanks for any information Smile

Hi

Depends what you mean by lower setting. Do you mean just backing off the preload, or does your bike have a height adjustment? If the 2nd you will probably just slow the handling a bit, if the 1st it will do this AND possibly upset the suspension.

All the best

Keith

I have mine on the highest, I believe supposed to help turn in (forks are dropped through yokes already anyway), but mostly because I take a lot of pillions and having it on its highest means my headlight isn't aimed towards the sky when I have my fat mate aboard.

It's just a height adjustment, I did think that having it higher would be better, but just thought I'd check, also someone was selling a 'lowered' hagon shock on ebay, so I was curious Smile thanks for the info btw Thumbs Up

If its for a Hornet, the rear is pretty uncivilised whatever the setting. Just set the sag correctly and ride it.

The rear suspension doesn't feel to bad to me tbh, wouldn't say uncivilised at all, I was just curious whether it was worth buying a new lower shock.

Why would you want it lower? Unless you cant touch the floor when sitting on it?

I don't really want it lower, just wondered how it would affect the handling, because someone is selling a hagon 'lowered' shock on eBay

Theres a website where people of all different weights have put there best settings in on there bikes. cant seem to find it on my phone will post it when i get home.

Anyway you just select the closest weight to you and use the settings they have used then tweak till you get something to your preference.

Although how this helps answer the OP's question I don't know.
