Bike blown/knocked over - what would you do?

So this didn't happen to me, but as I was out driving this morning I noticed a bike had fallen to the ground and hit the back of a nearby KA.

I don't know whether this was the wind (hmm) or pushed over intentionally, but either way the owners of the car and bike will be pissed. Notice it has fallen to opposite side of kickstand.

I considered picking up the bike, but then thought that the damage has already been done and I didn't want to get involved in case of suspicion on my part - but what would you do?

I would do Nothing, imagine that was your bike and you saw someone picking it up? Surely you would automatically think it was them that bumped it over? Not worth the trouble so just take pictures and smirk, just my opinion

Thats a properly horrible feeling, coming back from shops too see your bike on its side in the road

i doubt it was the wind i think a car from the other side reversed into it.

When driving a car, and having parked, and returned to my car, I have never walked round the back of the car to see if since me parking some bike has squeezed into the gap between me and the car behind.

Maybe I would see it out of the rear view mirror, maybe I wouldnt.

Ok so we're on the same train of thought then.. I also didn't want to try and pick it up, drop it again and cause more damage. Felt bad seeing it though It has been rather windy here today, and I assume (by the cover) it was left overnight.

It's not going to get any more damaged by lying there. When one blew over at the end of my street and stayed that way for a day, I knocked on doors until I found the owner, a tidy little blonde bit with an injured shoulder who couldn't lift it herself, then I got it up for her.

Look at positioning of both the Ka and the bike in terms of how the bays are marked out.

Wouldn't surprise me if someone in a car was irked at the bike being in the middle of a 'car' bay on a busy Saturday/Sunday and tried to shoe horn themselves in and pushed it over.

That's a Clunker it probably can lie down on anything and not suffer any damage. You would probably receive a nasty wound that would automatically go septic if you'd picked it up.
Like helping a Tramp up and he tries to bite you.
The lassie (obviously a Lassie who drive the Ka as a real man would never even set foot in one.) who owns the Ka will be livid.

Drain the fuel into a can and walk off.

Saves it getting wasted as it drips away, plus removes a fire hazard.... maybe the battery too.

I'd right the bike and leave a note of some kind explaining I found it on its side/resting on the Ford Ka. Mainly because if their bike is anything like mine then being on its side screws up the oil level and leaks petrol everywhere to boot.

I wouldn't like to move that myself as the whole bike is resting on the exhaust and it's against the KA. I could cause more damage. I reckon it would take more than one person to right that bike causing minimal extra damage. It's sad but I know what you mean about the fear of getting blamed. A call to the police non-emergency number with the Registration plate might have resulted in them being able to call the owner to give him a heads up to return to his bike.
