a guy reversed his astra in to my busa while it was parked .

luckily he chapped the door of the house i was in & told my .

he said the bike looks ok ( lying on a pavement all the engine oil out of it ! )

damage , all the front left fairings , nose cone , snapped clutch lever , hole in clutch housing , bar end , mirror , heavily dented bk box .

now the guy has said it was his fault but the question is i never told my insurance that i have beowulf gp pipes fitted . could that stop the other company from paying out ?

You're claiming on HIS insurance.

Are you claiming for exhaust damage as well?

If not I honestly cant think why. But insurance companies are sly bastards...

It shouldn't, since his insurance will be paying. Bit daft not declaring it though as it probably would have been a free addition. Anyway, the beowulf can will be a lot cheaper to replace than the stocker.

how on earth does this happen? a busa is a huge bike, its about 10 X bigger than a child, Shocked

what are these people looking at when they reverse.
i wonder if he even realises, that when you reverse, things come from behind you.
fair play for knocking the door, but still.

his excuse was there was someone walking along the pavement as he was about to come out of his drive so he was watching the person walking & not what was behind him !

it's also a mobility car that the young guy & his g/f seem have a permanent loan of as the guy i was visiting said he thought it was there car !

it turns out its his father in laws mobility car & he's a named driver .

Named drivers on a mobility insurance? I suppose that won't make any difference to getting a payout.

Just make sure every little mark on your bike is repaired, it's going to be expensive for them.

Hmm, are the DVLA paying for the insurance claim?

If so, might as well go for broke and rip the DVLA for everything you can. Make all those bribes pay for something.

You do realise that having your bike out between October and April counts as abuse and invalidates the paint warranty?

Or is that just victory motorcycles?

mce said at 1st i can't get a hire bike as i have another bike & a truck , they phoned me just there to see how i'm getting on .

i told them i'm slightly stuck as if i use my truck for going from a-b all the time it will cost me a fortune on fuel & i told them if i use my rocket it takes a few hrs to clean it at the end of the day so i'm not keen on using it when there's grit on the road .

mce has now said they will get the hire company to contact me .

luckily i could use my own truck to recover the bike last night so i didn't need to fork out for recovery as i'm tpft

It's just not worth it, it really isn't.

@Stuartt - You should probably be OK in this case, if it was claiming on your own insurance then you'd probably be screwed. They really will take any excuse to avoid paying Rolling Eyes

But actually largely irrelevant, because it all comes out of the public purse.

Motability is a charity, but people pay using their 'mobility allowance', which comes from the government.

Always amused by the way people are moaning at politicians if they try and claim for anything slightly questionable, yet people are happy for other 'members of the public' to get as much money as possible out of the tax coffers.

I'd use BLD (bikers legal defence) They seem quite good. My mate used them, got a free rental bike, and they gave him a nice sum of money. Thumbs Up

Well, do a claim, put the stock cans on. Scratch them up, get extra money, buy new aftermarket cans and standard cans. Laughing

Or accept your bum rape (doubt you'll get much on aftermarket cans with a Busa) probably a £20 increase if that Laughing

how long had the pipes been on? could you legitimately claim that you'd fitted them the other day and hadn't been able to get through to the insurance company to tell them you'd fitted them.

are they actually a performance part, my bike's got an exhaust that looks like the factory one but isn't as it was cheaper.

Any no fault claim, it is worth using McAms, https://www.mc-ams.co.uk/

Doesn't matter who you are insured with, and they sort out a free courtesy bike as well.

McAMS are absolutely spot on, they're currently sorting out a claim for me.

i contacted the car drivers insurance & they said they'd get someone out to assess my bike .

in the mean time they will give me a hire bike that's about a 1300 cc although i need to wait till monday due to the weather as it's coming from birmingham .

at a glance if i've not missed anything the parts alone come to £1500 & prob 1 days labour i think .
