Another silly bandit question...

Bandit 600 Mk1.

Picked it up from Pete, he puts the key in ignition, smidge of choke and presses the starter. It fires instantly. Runs sweet as. We then lay it on its side & put in the back of an astra van.

Unload at other end, fuel tap hasnt moved from RES where pete had it set at his end. Cranked forever and wouldnt start. Figured bollocks it, flat battery. Put on charge overnight. Same issue next day. cranked forever, occasional BANG, occasional trying to spin up on at a guess one cylinder - however only with the choke right on max.

Fiddled some more. I have spark on all four cylinders, i have fuel in all four float bowls. I've checked all the wiring & cant find anything wrong. I've tried adding more petrol, all the settings on the tank tap & no joy. When we laid it down, it was laid down on the left hand side if this makes any difference? Does the bandit have some kind of inertia cut off switch that'd have possibly been triggered & needs resetting? Perhaps something in the carbs that'd have locked up being laid on its side?

Gotta be something simple, and it's definately happened whilst we were loading, or unloading the bike.

Putting it on it's side is definitely where it went wrong, bikes don't like being on their side. In my lessons I dropped an ER6 on it's side trying to do manual handling, seem to remember the instructor saying there was always a chance it wouldn't start when we picked it back up, and it was something to do with the oil and fuel. Longer you leave it on it's side, the worse.

No inertia lock that I know of on mine, however it could be hydrolocked? When lying the bike down, oil could possibly have seeped past the rings and is now sat in the combustion chamber.

Edit: After cranking, are your sparkies wet?

Bump start it. Worked last time i had this problem.

Does make sense, however it wasnt flat on its side - more at an angle.

Cant get plugs out, need to borrow tools from paddy for this. Checked spark by putting an old plug in the HT's one at a time.

Cant bump, clutch needs setting up, which i cant do till i've got it to run

Pulled plugs, cleaned em up & it fired almost instantly.
