Go for it.

They missed my pump-action sawn-off on the way out, and a pistola coming back once, so I'd tend not to worry too much.

Ironically they did once find a knife. All they did was confiscate it.

Machete's are legal in the UK, Balisong's are not.

You're MUCH more likely to get caught posting it than you are just bringing it back. Just remember they are illegal here and as such you could get done if caught.

I was going to bring one back however I figured it'd just be picked up at Customs so couldn't be bothered, as it turns out I got off the plane, walked through an automatic passport checker, grabbed my bag and walked out, wish I had! Laughing.

To be honest if you want one so badly just make one, they're pretty easy to make.

When I went on holiday to Florida in 2002 I brought back a replica of Frodo's sword (i know, gay), an egyptian-style statue with a sword concealed in it, 5 throwing stars and two daggers. Not a peep from anyone about them, except for my mate's mum who was worried that I was buying so many blades Laughing

Throwing stars are illegal too, our laws are so fucking gay, it's only a flick knife not an M60 Laughing

I started thinking this just as I finished reading the OP. They're not exactly the pinnacle of engineering are they. Especially if the one you have OP is "cheap crap", you could probably build one yourself which is much better than some shitty knife from a chinese stamping press.

A bit off topic but when I went to Soudah Bay in Greece you can just walk into shops and buy fully functional m16s and other weapons. Made for an interesting visit that's for sure Smile

1. Receiving post from an anonymous person is not a crime.

2. I brought a metal BB gun into the UK and they missed it on the scanners.

Either way is probably fine.

They're much more anal about it now...

All of my carry-on luggage got thrown up leaving the USA because I put everything in one tray which meant one or two things were on top of each other... like my tablet laying on top of my laptop.

Ended up having to use 3 trays.

UK airport was fine with it when I departed...

Most swords are legal, butterfly knives aren't. Same goes for pepper spray, tasers/stun guns, police batons including collapsible ones...

Most swords are legal.

Not if they have a curved blade tho.... Apparently the lethal measure of a sword is not the keenness of the blade, nor the sharpness of the point but if it has a curved blade or not.... Rolling Eyes

It's more complex than the curvature I think, that's why I said "most" swords are legal. Curved "katana" style swords can still be legally purchased, there there is a subset of curved blades which cannot. I believe curved Katana made with traditional techniques are the legal "curved swords", but I'm not 100% on it.

it's illegal to sell them in the uk, and illegal to carry them around. but not illegal to own. just package it in your luggage like a gift or something. if you hide it in a sock or something it'll look a bit more dodge and is less likely to be ignored.

I read that as "buttery knife, should I throw it or not?" and thought to myself "oooh, who's got the big cutlery budget?"
