Generalisation or in relation to a certain person you know?

I love walking my dog! I wish I had more time in the day to walk her.

Thought about walking it yourself? I know it's not your responsibility but it's not the dogs fault either, and if you can do it a favour Very Happy

getting a dog for most people is always a good idea until you realise its more effort than they first thought
walks food vet bills etc
my next door neighbor bought a puppy shortly after i got mine i now own next doors dog and walk both together twice a day.apparently once it wasnt a puppy any more they lost interest

One of my neighbours has a dog, some sort of spaniel I think, and I had no idea they owned a dog until I found it in my kitchen one day. In the five or six years since I have only ever seen them walk it once. On the other hand my other neighbours have a big dog that gets walked every day come rain or shine and it loved galloping around in the snow!

Snow jackets? I took my JR beating at the weekend in plenty of snow - it was fine all day without a pansy-ass jacket in sight!

Regarding OP's question - some people simply shouldn't be dog owners. My dog doesn't get walked every day (more 5 or 6 out of 7); however she does always get a lot of attention and does get walked most days - and most importantly in my eyes she is a working dog and really enjoys it too too. She seems more than happy with the arrangement:

We don't walk ours anywhere near enough, and we know it's wrong, but we do a lot of mind exercise which -although it isn't an adequate replacement over long periods- it does stop them misbehaving. Basically they're tired from training but not getting physical training or getting to sniff the outside world.
We need to change our life around the dogs cos at the moment we don't give them enough of it.

this. They got dog as a puppy, it was kept in the mums handbag until it got too big. They think becuase its a small dog, once a week or two is enough Rolling Eyes

I have now moved out of the house but they have had a new vinyl floors in kitchen and conservatory. What has happened since you wonder?

Dog and cat have resumed shitting in conservatory instead of kitchen. (they did go outside only when it snowed and I managed to tread in two of them by the bike! I was not expecting it!!!) New floor has NOT been cleaned up once. The combination has gone rust coloured puddle with islands of poo.

Kitchen however, the Vinyl was put down ontop of wooden floor to protect it. Then water pipe burst, she didnt bother turning off water for 24 hours. They did not bother to dry the floor, and it is still wet underneath, squeltches. I belive vinyl has a foam backing? so Im sure thats ruined too.

The mum claims need new windows in the girls room becuase of mould Laughing or she could infact clean the windows?!?!?!?.

When people are so lazy, they'd rather spend £1500 to avoid doing 30 mins of cleaning, should they have the responsibility of kids or pets Shocked

This, my friends, is why cats rule.

You just let them out. They have lots of fun outside, then you can have some love and attention whenever you like.

Basically owning a dog is like having a ball and chain strapped to your ankles.

I miss Andre-the-Dog so much. Found a gravy-bone under the sofa the other day and cried for an hour. Crying or Very sad

When he got too arthritic to come to work with me, I got him his own kitten, 'Woof' to keep him company in the day. I still walked him though. Woof used to come too. They slept together as well. Now Woof comes for walks with me. Am I the only person who walks their cat?

My handsome little chap "Stig" and his freakishly big ears, walk him atleast once a day sometimes twice, for atleast an hour at a time.

My neighbours have a fat staff. Lived here for eight, nearly nine years. Seen them walking it twice, even then it was with a relative / family friend.

Kind of sad really.

I have an American Bulldog cross Staff. My mum has a Yorkshire Terrier (nasty little thing) we walk them both at the same time. An hour - an hour and a half at a time. If the weather is nice, we take them park. Razz

Walk them. Least of my worries if people can't be arsed walking their dogs.

One of my clients (who I reluctantly took on from another practices area), as it turns out, had no fewer than 10 dogs under 14 months old from at least four different litters and were keeping them in their council house.

It's not a problem now though because they didn't bother their arse or have the funds to have any of them vaccinated and now they're all dead from what is probably parvo.

They want to sue me because apparently it's my fault.

People are twats. We had a woman collect (buy?) a pregnant bitch from Ireland who then had 6 pups, one died at 2 weeks old cos it wasn't breathing right, the others she couldn't afford to get vet checkups on so she relinquished them to our rescue - she still hasn't had the bitch at the vets and she has been weeing blood since the birth!!
All signed over to us, we have contracts, paid all vet bills, vaccinated all 5 pups etc, microchipped to the rescue. Now she's DEMANDING the return of the 5 dogs before legal proceedings! Very Happy It's a joke. She also asked if we were having the 6th pup signed over to us - the one that DIED 4 weeks before we even knew about them! Basically she wanted us to pay the vet bill for putting it to sleep!!
Anyway we now have some 10 week old Husky/Akita cross puppies in foster. Smile
