Got myself a k6 s/m only 4500 miles on the clock. Has r&g bungs all round, tail tidy and a full akra system.
From what I have been told it hasn't been re-jetted for the akra system. Seems to be down on power, I did wonder if that could be down to it not have a re-jet?
I see there are a lot of mods can be done to it. But I can't see any guides on doing them. Is the 3x3 mod as simple as cutting a 3"x3" hole in the top of the lid and re-jetting?
When re-jetting is it going to be a PITA like it was when i did my dt? As in have to keep trying different jet sizes and needle positions or is there a standard jet size and needle position to use with the 3x3 and free flowing zorst?
For the moment I'm not going as far as putting hot cams in or an fcr carb. Just want to give it a bit of a boost.

3x3 mod is just chop hole in airbox that size.

FMF pipe and shit is supposed to ramp it up a little, rejetting to suit, so up 5 sizes or so.

Have you ridden one before? They're far from 'super' motos!

Incidentally, I have some DRZ-E cams sitting beside me for sale. May have a FCR carb somewhere too Smile.

Sticking a 'standard jet' for the mods in may make it better, but still won't be as good as getting it done properly.

Might be worth seeing about an hour's dyno time to get it set up nicely - think it should be pretty easy to access the carb on them.

I did test one a few years back, must say it wasn't as flat as this one. Just got it 'cos it was localish and decent priced lol and it's a nice bike to get me back into it all. Just needs setting up right.
What sort of money you thinking?
When you say an hours dyno time, what do they do? Just plop it on the dyno and power test for an hour or they set the carb up while they're at it?

PM'd you a price.

I was thinking you doing the work with the carb at the dyno, so then you're just paying for an hour's time for dyno+operator.

But, they'll happily do the work for you too, of course, for a bit more money!

A quick google shows one place offering dyno time for £46+vat for an hour, or £170+vat for them to setup a carbed bike for you.

Presuming you can get a good enough setup in an hour and aren't spending too much on jets, probably makes sense to do a bit of research and do it yourself.

I'll have a think about them G. Cant argue at the price just a bit skint for a few weeks. Thing with doing it myself is I really cba lol. I spend all week spannering dont want to do it on my time off. Just want it ready to go when I feel like playing. And like I was saying to rob I know if I start fiddling with it ill end up stripping it and doing lots of little bits n Bob's lol.
Before I forget quick action throttle and those adjustable levers. Anyone know where I can get them for it?

d through this not so long ago when suggesting a course of action to a DRZ400 owning friend recently

https://4strokes.com/tech/suzuki/drz400su.asp

You might need to go up a few sizes on the main jet with a free flowing exhaust and the airbox mod.But if you replace the air filter with say one from K&N then expect to have to change the needle if using the FCR carb.

Good advice and parts from Allens.I bought a slightly richer needle for my KTM FCR carb when I modified the standard exhaust. The FCR needle can be used to tune several parts of the mid-range and does not have a straight taper to it.
