first time away

Hi, new to the forum.
Took the plunge and booked up for the French moto gp today.
Heart set on going over on my bike. No experience of riding overseas though. Any tips/advice.

Ride on the wrong side of the road, and don't forget to take your hi-vis jacket, as the rozzas love pulling people over and and giving them a hard time/arse rape with baguette/nasty fine if they ain't got one.

And don't mention the war.

You might be better off looking in the touring and exploration forum. There is loads of people who have asked the same questions and lots of helpful answers.
