A good friend of mine asked me to raise this issue here as you guys probably know best how the system works. The situation is my friend will be buying a 2nd hand bike in England end of july and he needs to travel from London to Hamburg, a 990 km ride. He has no lisence although he's been riding for 3 years on an r6 in turkey because he had a fake lisence Razz Could he make it out of england, onto the ferry, and into france without being checked? How does the registration system work? He thinks it won't be a problem once hes on mainland europe because the shengen policy lets him drive right through belgium, holland and germany. What do you guys think?

I think people who ride/drive without insurance should be taken away and shot.

I'd hope he got pulled and f*cked over by the plod, but he'd probably be fine cos we don't seem to be able to afford real policeman in this country any more.

So what happens when he crashes into someone?, its probably going to happen as he's had no training on a bike. Hope the German Police catch him and sort him out.

If the french police catch him he'll have to break out the vaseline and prepare to be shafted. And rightly so. Confused

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

The risk is down to him, but I regularly speak to a couple of friends of mine, one is a Policeman in France another is a German Traffic Cop and this sort of behaviour is something that really p1sses them off.

Is he a UK national? If he isn't and he gets caught he will be arrested and put before the courts at the earliest opportunity. The fine will amount to whatever money he has on him with the option of a prison sentence and the likelihood is the bike will be impounded and sent to the crusher.

In France it starts getting really serious, and Germany is no better, over there Roads Policing is more effective than here simply because it is treated as front line or mainstream Policing which does not happen here.

The risk is is, but apart from the legal implications, if he has an accident, then damage only or injury an MiB claim will no doubt be put in place and not only will he get clobbered (even if he leaves the Country), they will come chasing him for re-imbursment which could run into many thousands of pounds and he will be personally liable. Even for a straightforward damage only RTA he could be looking at a bill in excess of £15,000.

Would you want it in the back of your mind? I'd be too pranged out all the time to enjoy riding.

If he gets a license and gets all legal I'm going to Hamburg round the same time. Would be cool to ride up there.
