Hello everyone. Thumbs Up the other day I went and got myself some knee sliders and the sock things to stick them to. and same afternoon me and my mate went to a roundabout I know well and I've never used sliders but have had knee down once before and knackerd my jeans. so as I was blatting round and round and round on my sachs xtc 125 I done it knee down Laughing f**k off great smile and could'nt pull myself off the roundabout. yesterday need more practise so me and my mate go to the roundabout, knee down all the way round Laughing but after a few rounds I thought my tyre is getting cooked so I piss off then on my way home I find another roundabout and I go for it, smack my knee hits the deck then bugger me my arse is out the seat my bike is sliding down the road my clutch hand comes off the handle bar and I think it's all over Shocked , then smack my chest lands on the tank and I just manage to reach the clutch before sliding off the bike on to the road Shocked I absolutly crapped myself my mate was behind and he said he was just getting ready to stop coz he thought i was gone (so did I ) but I done it I saved a high side went back because my mate said I left a black line and bugger me what a long line it's about 20 ft Laughing has anyone else done anything similer Question

Eh?

So you fell off the bike, slid along the floor, jumped back on the bike and got upright then rode off?

Eh?

no it slid out from the rear gripped spat me up in the air which left me holding the bike with throttle hand only and I landed back on the bike and just mannaged to grap the clutch before falling off so I avoided any damge to the bike and me apart from my ribs which are a bit sore as a result

Please excuse my verbal diahorrea tonight but whats so good about going round and round a roundabout on a 125 anyway.

Surprised you didn't go dizzy - might have been a bit annoying for other road users as well, if you were going fast enough.

You must have a very strong grip with your right hand Laughing

Saved one myself, but on something much bigger and faster. You think your 125 can throw? Wait till you get a bigger bike mate, they're heeeeeavy.
Be careful though, one lowside is all it takes.

I cant believe that entire message didnt have a single mark of punctuation; No wonder nobody understands whether it was a highside or a lowside!

Being able to lean a bike far enough to 'get your knee down', although this depends alot on the rider and bike, is seen as one of those majot achievements. At the least it does mean you know can lean your bike fairly well which is always useful on the road; if you've suddenly got to lean more than you think you can. Stick your knee out and you've got a guide for how much you can or can't lean.

....

Oh, and you were pretty likely to have done much more after the initial throw up in the air byt the sounds of it. A 4 stroke 125 doesn't have massive amounts of torque to highside you.

dandit, I think it is time to sit down and reflect on what happened, why it happened and how to make sure it never happens again. Then put it into practice! Confused

Indeed.

A bit pointless crashing unless you learn from the experience.

Did you just lean too much?
Were the tyres not hot enough?
Was there a bad road surface or a bit of road debris it slipped on?

I did this on the SV in France, scared myself stupid! I was going round a roundabout where there were some roadworks and just as I smelt the diesel, the back end kicked out and both my feet left the pegs and kicked my panniers behind me. Somehow I got it back together but my heart was pounding at the time!
Lesson learnt? Pay more attention to diesel!!!

I think it was a combination of tyres been to hot and a the fact that my rear shock has leaked most of its oil out Shocked so I done well getting my knee down anyway, oh and maybe lack of expeiriance, ohwell thats one way to learn Laughing

I've seen distance/touring tyres being used on a track day, where there is a lot of heat put into them; and they've done ok.

It tends to be the harder type tyres don't get enough heat into them; usually problems with tyres that get too hot are when you use a softer compound (ie dogter compund race tyre, not just a road tyre) on a very hot day as it is.

The rear shock is one definite candidate, though most likely to be a problem in combination with a dodgy road surface or similar.

I've got a melteler sprotec m1 on the rear and it got very bloody hot I done about 15 maybe 20 laps on the round about at 60 mph on the same side so it must have got hot
