Bandit 400, everything works now bar the idiot lights. Neutral light works, just no high beam/indicator. Is this a fail?

Don't know about high beam.

Indicator idiot lights are needed if you can't see the indicators from normal riding position.

Everything on the bike works 100% except when you choose left or right, nothing shows up on the dash, same with the high beam, they work as intended but do not let me know.

You don't need a speedo for an MOT

The speedo in not part of the MOT, nor are the idiot lights (unless you have one of those weird vehicles with 4 wheels) with the exception of the indicator warning and then only if you can't see the actual indicators from the normal riding position.

Clicky for the VOSA MOT guides.

Use your own advice - tape over the lights that don't work

Speedo needs to be present. If you are caught without a speedo they'll force you to get an MOT.

I know this, I got a VDRS on my TTR Laughing C&U regs, but yeah, when I wanted my road legal pit on the road even the friendly MOT centre wanted a speedo attached.

But yeah, spoke with them today, just gonna tape the buggers up.

Speedo needs to be visible, doesn't have to work.

Police picked on mine as it obviously wouldn't work (no cable) Laughing

I can't see anything in the MoT manual about the need for a speedo or any other instruments...?

Speedo isn't a tested item for MOT but If the bike was first used after April 1984 then it requires a working speedo under the Construction And Use Regs.

3.6. Speedometers
Every motorcycle first used on or after 1 April 1984 and capable of more than 25 mph must have
a speedometer which reads in both miles per hour and kilometres per hour either simultaneously
or separately by the use of a switch. A speedometer which is approved to Community Directives
75/443/EEC as amended by 97/39/EC, 2000/7/EC or to UNECE Regulation No.39 is acceptable.
