For those with kids; What sort of age will you/did you start letting them go two up? My kid is only three (almost four), too young yet to go out proper, but I let him sit on it as I do figure if eights in the car park. Loves it obviously. Particularly satisfying for me, as my soon to be ex wife rages about him being near my bike Razz

I think it's very much a personal thing. Only take them out when you're happy to do so.

Legally they're allowed on as soon as they can reach the pegs. Thumbs Up

I believe as long as their feet can reach the rear pegs then there isn't really an age limit... youngest pillion I took was a 9 year old, but that was only on the 125... I wouldn't have trusted him on a bigger bike

Nah hes far too young just now. No chance of feet hitting the pegs for a while. Just wondered what the general lay of the land was for these things. Doubt I would take him anywhere far, but Im sure when the time comes, he'd like a ride round the block etc.

As you can see, keen....but too wee

as long as they can get there feet on the pegs & i've got one of the belts with handles on .

i'd also get them to hold on to a brush handle & lift the brush for say 5 seconds with there feet a few inches of the ground to see what there grips like Very Happy

then it's just a case of driving like a saint with the kid wearing full bike gear even for a wee 2 min run .

He would actually be better sharing my set, that way he's wedged in Wink lol

I have one of those belts too, they are quite good.

My two girls were riding pillion from 10.
The best thing I can recommend to make the other half a little happier (although my ex used to take 1 and me the other so not an issue!) is one of those belts that you wear round your midriff which has two good sized handles on it for the kids to hang onto, also great for wary adult pillions too.

A topbox made them feel a little less wary when they hopped on the Zed.

The eldest just viewed it as another form of taxi service and could take it or leave it, the youngest on the other hand is a proper speed freak and had experienced triple figures by the time she was 13!

This

When it comes to my kid I am a massive wuss and I get annoyed if she gets hurt with the childminder! I'm not sure if I could live with myself if I binned it with an adult on the back and they were squished.
I don't even like the wife driving if in there.

I know we can't wrap them up in content wool and I guess in their teens then maybe, but I still wouldn't like it and I know where your ex is coming from.
I think the other thing is that I wouldn't relax at all with my kid on the back.

I'm off to get a drink of the manthefuckup now, toodlepip

Aye, I get where your coming from, Id be besides myself if he got hurt. But Im sure when I was a kid, I'd have given my right arm for a go on the back of my dads bike (if he had one), so it wouldnt be fair not to let him.
