Popped in to (Oxford) Aldi's for a quick look to see what they have this week and was happy to find these Arc Welders reduced from 39.99 to 29.99. Picked one up, got home and tried and it does a pretty good job for the money. Thought i might try some ally welding with it, as setting up the MIG for that is a pain. Handy if i run out of wire or gas for the MIG too.

Can't see them advertised on Aldi's site anywhere, so i thought i'd let you lot know. Don't know if it's just Oxford, or if all Aldi's have them.

There were still quite a few left yesterday, but i'm sure they'll be gone soon at that price.

There was a previous BCF thread from a while ago about them here too.

Wotcha waitin' fer? Go grab a bargain! Thumbs UpVery Happy

I'd get one if I understood a bit better about how to power it.

Unit not suitable for standard domestic 13 Amp power socket

Well that's me buggered then. Very Happy

I was talking to the manager of the Aldi in Ramsbottom, after items have been on sale for a set length of time, each individual manager is allowed to reduce items to clear them. In Rammy tools tend to sell well so he rarely needs to reduce them.

You should run it off a cooker socket, but i've tried it up mid-range power on a 13A plug and normal socket and it seems (fingers crossed!) to be fine so far.

These welders work, but need a good supply. Also, dont waste the money on alloy rods. It wont do it, the arc doesnt get hot enough. Mines been used largely for gate type welding and cutting up scrap. With gouging rods, you can cut all day.

Just be sure the cooling fan shifts air, some dont.
