It is indeed on the 7th of July. I should be there, depends if I can be bothered to crawl my way there (it gets amazingly busy, even with just bikes).

So is anyone else going? Any suggestions on parking or is it just follow the crowd? From what I remember it's quite well marshalled.

I usually park up when my bike starts to overheat. Laughing
Seriously though, once you are close enough to the centre grab any space you can get your bike into. Wink

I saw some signs for that on the way down to East Kirkby on Sunday. Shortly afterwards I killed another piston so called greenflag out. The recovery guy said this barton bike night was good. Where abouts is it in Barton on Humber? I might be go if I have a working bike by then. I am from York as well as you Map.

Lol, just get anywhere near Barton-on Humber and you can't miss it. (or avoid it for that matter). The entire town is basically overtaken by bikes and bikers for the evening. They say its the biggest bike night in the country and I would have to agree. I have been the last couple of years, usually get to the roundabout near Barton, crawl in a mass convoy of bikes into the centre, bike gets hot, pull over and park up. Take a walk round Barton, get annoyed coz I can't move at my own pace Evil or Very Mad then get a drink. Calm down and decide to ride home.
Watch out for speed cameras on the way in though, there is usuallyat least one on each route in to Barton and must make a fortune that night. Thumbs Down

According to https://www.bartonbikenight.co.uk/ there were 10,000+ bikes there last year. Shocked

Barton-on-humber is just south of the humber bridge. It takes over the whole of Barton for the night - you can't miss it.

From York suggest taking A roads towards Scunthorpe (A19, A1041, A614, A18) then A1077 to Barton. This avoids motorways and paying the humber bridge toll (£1.10 for bikes). Should meet up with a few bikes on the way. If it's fine people in the villages sit out and wave at all the bikes.

Done a quick multimap search - click here for info.

You mean you swing by and grab me? Its like 30 miles from here or 70 from yours Razz.
To get to Barton from here we go past (through) Scunthorpe.

Quick update. Humberside police will have 6 motorcycle cops in the area for the night.
There will also be four speed camera vans (I think they call them safety camera vehicles Wink ). These are big white vans but they WILL be hiding some of them.

Apparently a favourite area is at the end of the 70mph limit.

Humberside police says that so long as a bike is not speeding and is roadworthy they'll not stop it. Just have to wait and see how those small number plates make a bike 'unroadworthy' then Shocked

Camera vans at Barton.

Police have resorted to using hidden speed cameras to catch bikers on the way to next week’s Barton Bike Meet.

In response to criticism that not enough was done about speeding at last year’s event, police have said that four camera vans will be operating on roads leading to Barton, just south of the Humber bridge, – some will be in high visibility livery but some will be hidden from view.

The event, which takes over the whole of Barton town centre, takes place on Wednesday July 7 from 6pm and last year attracted over 15,000 bikers.

Myself and 2-3 mates are meant to be coing up for it (we're south of Barton compared to you Stew! Wink )

It might well depend on the weather though (sad though I am) as it gives torrential gales and pissing down with rain by tomorrow evening in that area.

So, might see you there (if I can spot you in the crowds) Stew.

My mate has done it before from Lincoln, there's ususally a good few hundred bikers from here do it and its all about a 45-55 mph job as there's so many of them, can't see police getting much in the way of revenue from that sort of pace!

My mobile number is in my profile Adam.
Police get about everywhere but you don't need to ride fast to enjoy the ride in, like you say with so many bikes about its fun anyway even at 50mph. (you still get the people who will tear past at 100mph, and subsequently get caught Rolling Eyes ).

Last year I think they used 80mph as the point at which they would 'do' you for speeding (my neighbour was caught on camera at 87mph or something) and anything below that was 'safe'. I'm not sure if that's totally true though. Somebody usually goes round putting little cardboard signs up reminding people about their speed - quite often near the cameras. Wink
