They're actually starting to put surveillance in just for us? This is bad sign.

Our only hope is its bollocks, it is MCN after all...

Fuck's sake.

Well, presumably there are no bike casualties on those roads now. Rolling Eyes

Argh, bollocks.

Blame Wycombe Mag's facebook page!

I saw they had posted it and just assumed it would be recent.

My bad, still, something to watch out for!

The roads of Derbyshire have 99 problems but speed aint one of them.

I was there at the weekend and the place is like a gigantic, slowly moving carpark. I wasn't even making progress on the Enfield.

Speeding anywhere in the vicinity of Matlock? You're having a fucking laugh right?

There were however some of the most cuntish, inconsiderate bikers I've seen for a long time in Matlock Bath.

I felt I had to appologise on their behalf when a whole crowd of young fucking oiks (a good 30-40 of them) filtered to the front of patiently queuing traffic at a contra-flow and pushed in the front. They kept this up for three cycles of the lights without a single car being able to move off. I landed up sitting out in the road blocking them and told the driver next to me to go first while I held them back.

I also witnessed people pulling straight out into traffic, filtering through pedestrian crossings on zig-zags and all other manner of inconsiderate fuckwittery. They pissed me off and I was on a bike.

So. I'd be all for fitting a few CCTV cameras in the centre of Matlock Bath and dishing out a few tickets. People who ride like that make life difficult for everyone else.

Kind of agree, but the problem is that once you put a System in place, it will tend towards making quick and easy collars in order to put a number in a box. It's hard to quantify twat deterrence.

I feel a bit dirty writing it, but I'd honestly prefer to have actual Plod out there giving it Tut Tut in the most deserving cases. Sick

Very true, they'd have got plenty on Sunday.

I ride like a dick with the best of them but I try not to do it in such a way as it annoys other people. That's what leads to the car driving majority complaining to their local councillors and community police who in-turn come up with fuckwitted ideas like the article in the first post.

well From reading this I can see why Matlock justified putting in parking costs for bikes if large groups act like twats. Shame for the rest of us.
Get off the beaten track and Derbyshire still has some great roads with no plod, but you still have to ride for fun but with consideration .

Eh, what?

Parking fees are parking fees. They bear no relation to how or what people drive. If they are using that excuse to put in parking fees, it is just that, an excuse to make money. A bit like the 'your car isn't green, we'll charge more tax'. Just an excuse to put up prices.

To be fair (sorry), the only allowable purpose of parking charges is "traffic management". Deterring a particular type of traffic is a bit of a stretch, but far more honest and defensible than Westminster's farcical scheme.
