Brother broke his mic no doubt screaming down it etc, anyway, i have a replacement but there seems to be a copper wire, easy but then...

There seems to be a blue plastic/fibre type of wire, i was wondering how do i go about soldering that?

Thanks,
Ben

Sounds like enameled cable, I guess you can't see any insulation? Very common on consumer headphones etc. Just solder it directly but use lots of heat to make the enamel melt/bubble off. Best tin it first, as the solder will only flow to the bare copper so you know it'll conduct properly.

I didn't know if anyone was going to reply because normally people just throw away their headsets and replace them so I did the best I could.

The blue wire I spoke of had a clear insulation coating so using a scalpel I cut it back, tested I had the mic the correct way and soldered it on using a pair of pliers as a heat sink. It was fairly difficult but managed it in the end and my brother is happy so all's well!

Thanks and have some Karma,
Ben
