Right, I'm a plonker but I know there are web developers out there in the BCF world and if there are any that I have not pissed-off I need some help.

Firstly, my website is all .php files but last year it was .htm.

Secondly, Last year I created a promotional item that linked to one of the .htm pages on my laser engraver.

Thirdly, Tomorrow I leave to set up my booth at Southern Electronics in Farnborough.

Numpty bit... I made another 100 promotional items today (they're cutting out as I type) but I did not change the link to .php!

So I need a safe and recommended way to have a redirect. Something that will not raise alerts on the user's device. Any thoughts?

Have you got a control panel with your hosting? Quite often you can setup redirects in there. I do it on my site and I use cPanel.

Or if you want to do it by code; https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5411538/how-to-redirect-from-html-page

A simple redirect 301 in .htaccess file will probably do it, if not, modrewrite will cover it, even if it's overkill (assuming apache webserver)

iirc, adding

Redirect 301 /oldpage.htm /newpage.php

Should do it. Not used apache for quite some time.

Or, maybe a HTML bit of 'trickery' a meta redirect, some devices may not like these, but tbh, most are probably fine.

Create the page.html and use something like this:

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=https://my.gloryhole.com/thatpage.php" />
