Thanks. Excuse ignorance, but does an exhaust like this increase performance?

Noise yes... power, not enough to notice.

But the exhaust should be declared for insurance purposes as a modification? Also, the bike is a K1 model. Are the fairings, hugger, belly pan likely to be factory fitted? Thanks for any help.

I see your point about the exhaust. Thanks for your help. Will make tentative enquires about the exhaust and assume that the fairings etc were factory fitted. This is my first big bike and so I want to do things right. Can't wait to collect it. Not yet done 14000 miles so there should be some life in it.

Fairings are factory fitted to some S models, but most came with just the bikini fairing and added the bottom panels on later.

Oh and I didn't declare my two exhausts. It's a cheap runabout and I have no intention of claiming anyway.

I'm pretty sure I'm right in saying the hugger, belly pan and lowers are not factory fitted on that model.

I'm pretty certain they were on some, not all, just an optional extra as it were.

Edit: not the hugger, that's been put on after.

My exhaust is blue flame also, very loud. I haven't declared the fairings or hugger as they were on the bike when I bought it and I'm fairly sure they are standard. I did declare the exhaust though as it made no difference to my policy anyhow.

That photo above was from a tour of Wales we did last year. We did about 1000 miles in 3 days, and he was much much more comfortable than me on my ZX6, and he had no trouble keeping up.

I ride the naked SV now, and its ok. Mine is getting on a bit, brakes need sorting and engine could do with a service, but its been super reliable, and has been fast enough to keep me happy through winter.

Good bikes, yes. Not amazing, but for a first they are good. I definitely noticed the difference in performance and handling with a ZX6R (obviously) but its plenty good for my commute and occasional fun.

As has been said mine has also been very reliable, almost 18 months of commuting now and only needed basic servicing. Thumbs Up

If you need to know anything else drop me a pm.

Went to Cambridge yesterday to collect my first big bike. Suzuki sv650s K1. Fitted new front tyre and then rode it around the quiet country roads for a couple of hours to get used to it. Eventually felt confident enough to tackle the A1M south. Great fun but cold so had to stop at South Mimms to warm up. Eventually arrived safely in west London. Love my first ever big bike. Why did I wait until I reached 55 years of age before getting my full licence?!

Phoned my insurance company today to inform them of the exhaust modification and it makes no difference to the policy price as the exhaust doesn't increase the bhp. You live and learn.
