i have had my rs for a while now and i have done alot to it, but it has always suffered from poor starting , it is fine if i leave it for 1 day it fires up straight away , but any longer it pretty much completely drains the battery before finaly starting.

i thought a new piston and gasket wood sort this but it hasn't made any difference.
iv checked all the internals of the engine whilst replacing 2nd gear and everything apears to be oki.

only thing i can thing of is running too much oil but not sure if that would cause this.... any ideas anyone????

hi,
checked your battery? ignore what the lcd says about voltage, stick a multi-meter on it.
anything less than 12.5v & it probably wont start (especially with an old br10 plug in it)
so charge battery up properly (up to 13v) & then check it with bike running & revs at 5000rpm.
if your only doing short journeys & not thrashing it like you should, maybe the battery insnt getting enough of a charge? or battery might just be f*cked, multi-meter will tell you.
stick a new spark plug in it, a BR9 & dont waste your money on an iridium plug, you'll regret it.
cheers,
GAZ

batterys fine, checked it with my battery tester, the bike gets 10 miles of bouncing ont red line a day.

and br9? will this not melt, my engine runs hot
and also my end can baffles glow after 3miles (which iv never had on any other 2 stroke bikes?
have gone through 3 iridium plugs int past 1300 miles.

Checked your ignition timing and/or advance then ?
Sounds like it's off somehow .

I had the same problem with mine and simply replacing the starter done the trick for me. Mine used to sometimes turn over but then sometimes stick.

Or if yours turns over fine but just doesn't start then you might want to setup the carb again and make sure your mixture and tick over are set correctly and check your oil pump is lined up on he notches just to make sure it's running optimal

the starter did stick for a while but i traced that to a faulty switch and modified the contacts.

my EFI warning has been on since doing the full rebuild, i beleive this to be a problem with my TPS as it only comes on when the bike get above 9000rpm, should even need a TPS on a two stroke lol but from what iv been told this sends signals to the ecu and advances or retards the engine at certin revs, so its posssible it might all be down to that.??

and waiting till the weather gets better to get my bike ont dyno and get the carb set up right , its running slightly lean at the moment and i have a power valve job lot to put on soon.

has any one done the ecu de-restriction on a 2007 rs 125 and does it work ??

lined up on the notches??, been a while since i did the rebuild, but i did turn the pump up slightly to compensate for more fuel and air.

when i got it , choke able was snapped, second gear had a tooth missing , had never had a piston or gear oil change and still had the CAT in the exhaust. so the first thing i did was choke cable, as the bike was a none runner and it has always been poor at startineg before and after i did all the work soo i just dont know what to think, everyone i know in the trade doesn;t have an answer to why this is happening, would crank seals cause this??
