Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of Honda's VT Shadow 125 and the 125 Rebel. Any cruisers you could recommend as a first learner bike.

I rode a VT125 a while ago, very gutless, no power and utter slowness.

Riding position was annoying too, sounded like a bumble bee in a jar too Razz

I've ridden a Marauder but it had no power at all Rolling Eyes Hate the cruiser position too. City fly as someone else said seem ok. Low seat height and funky looks. Don't know if it's a 2 or 4 sroke though. Personally I wouldn't touch a 4 stroke 125. Weak. Thumbs Up

Not really after performance, though it would be nice I've thought about it for a while, it doesn't seem worth the money you spend to get an rs125, it still only reaches 90. I will be 21 in 11 months, should do my cbt within 3 weeks. I need a bike to learn on for the next 10 months, something cheap it mayswell be, also it means I will have a lot to spend on gear and a bike when I am 21. Then I shall be after performance, still appreciate suggestions, any cheap, reliable bikes that still give you enough to keep learning about riding, I shall need all the skills and experience I can for when I upgrade.

If you're not going to keep it for all that long then you're best bet has to be a cheap Honda CG125 or maybe a Suzuki GS125 both are fairly bullet proof and are dead easy to repair if something does go wrong, cheap as chips to run too.

As we are on the subject of Honda's and 125cc's, what do you lot think about the Varadero XL125V?

Well according to Honda's website they are £3,299.00 on the road, but I'm sure if you walked into Bransons in Yeovil they would do a good deal but it'd still be a hell of a lot of dosh for a 125 Sad

They do actually have a 2nd hand Varadero in stock because the salesman from Bransons rang me yesterday to tell me it has just come in,I asked them to give me a call if anything in 125's came in when I was looking around for a bike.I've actually bought a Hyosung Comet 125 now from Dorchester.

In case you did'nt realise I do actually live in Yeovil, not exactly a million miles away from you in Chard! Smile

Yeah I just read your profile, is Bransons on the Pen Mill trading estate?

I won't be able to get a 125cc yet, I don't turn 17 until next April unfortunately but did the dealer give you any ideas of the priceof that second hand 125cc Varadero?

When you turn 17, sort your test out, get a GS500.
We can be twins, and tart our bikes up, and so on.... Rolling Eyes
But for a 125, look second hand, get a nice cheap one to thrash until you upgrade, not much use in buying new, unless you intend to keep it after your test, for some reason. :>

Actually, I'm not sure I want a 125cc, after my test I would like the Honda CBF250. Smile

It won't be long, in a theological sense it will have passed in the blink of an eye, in that same blink we will be dead and gone.
