Tested my satnav set up yesterday and it worked very perfectly well. Can listen to music and FreeNav fades the music very well then turns the music back up nicely.

On a side note, people wishing to do this should get the 3.1amp USB charger like I got because the lower output ones won't change your phone while you're using it as a satnav.

No.

I'll get one of these if I need it to be waterproofed.

The only problem is that it will have two cables going into the case. My earphones and charging cable.

i've a cheap waterproof mount/case from ebay that does the job well, fits my cheapy car nav and also my galaxy s3 fits pretty well, will be using this tonight with a bluetooth earpeice.

just to add that mine has a rubber hole at the bottom, like a cros slit for feeding wires in, still keeps the wet out.

Also i'm using Navigon rather than any of the free ones (although it was still free via blackmart alpha) normally about £35 i think.

Seems to be much much better, some nice little features and auto turns the display off when there's no instructions incoming so saves a bit of battery

Does that have traffic updates? Google maps turn by turn is pretty good

yeah it has traffic updates and shows you weather at each location (start, end and any interim destinations) also has 'pois along the route' and an option for direct help which will show you the nearest petrol station off the bat which you can then add to your route with 1 button. (the downfall on a bike being I can't press the button while wearing gloves...)

Also has lane assist for motorways

Pretty smart actually, well I say that, will be trying it out properly for the first time tonight

google maps navigate is alright but requires a data connection, I much prefer having the maps offline that other apps give

AHHHH! Satnav on a bike!!! Shocked

I found when I had satnav my brain always switched to following satnav to easily. Embarassed Annoyed heck out of me. No matter how conscious I was of it, if I had satnav on, I did what satnav told me. Got googlemaps on my phone, and a mini A-Z in tailpack. If I need a map now, just pull over and check where I am.

Like the USB thing though. Might have to get one of them. A quick google suggests they are dirt cheap on eBay ^^

I found that me using sat nav works best if its in my pocket out of sight, relying on the spoken commands only via headphones.

I think if its visible then I automatically start relying on it more than I should

I think the socket, usb converter and long changing cable cost £8 for the lot! It's a must for me tbh because of the shockingly poor battery life of the one x

All i did was buy a waterproof satnav case from Ebay and shove my car satnav in it. Then keep it on charge using a 12v socket and taping around the connection to prevent water getting in.
