I've got net week off and tempted by a 2 day trip to the peak district. Apart from the obvious, recommended routes?

Heading over from suffolk so it's 3.5/4 hours to get there.

Took me 4 hours to get home (Peaks to Guildford), that included a fair amount of chancing my luck with average cameras on M1 and M25 and making the most of them when they were not there. Two fuel stops, one included food.
Google maps said 185 miles and 3.5 hours.

Haroman666 put this together, was mega!

Takes me 3.5 hours from Cambridge to Macclesfield. Fastest route up here would be A14, M1. Then you can go onto the A50 and enter the peaks at Ashbourne or go a little further up the M1, cut under or over Derby and enter through Matlock on the A6.

Roads to ride is pretty much exactly what Pigeon posted.
In order of my favourite to least favourite:
Arrow A54 (Congleton to Buxton)
Arrow A5004 (Buxton to Whaley Bridge)
Arrow Snake Pass (Glossop to Ladybower or Sheffield)
Arrow Cat and Fiddle (Macclesfield to Buxton)
Arrow B6106 followed by A628 (Glossop to nearly Penistone)
Arrow A6 (Buxton to Derby)

and then 90% of the local roads in and around all of that are pretty sweet and guaranteed to have a blind crest with a sheep in the middle of the road on the other side at some point along the way.

Careful of plenty of shit, mud and stones in the middle of the road. It can happen anywhere, and very often does.
Careful of heavy policing.
Careful of average speed cameras and sleeping policemen buried in bushes.
Careful of horses, cyclists and caravans and cars overtaking the aforementioned on blind bends.
And I wasn't joking about the blind crests with sheep the other side. If you see a blind crest coming up 100%, without a doubt, slow right down. They like to put tight bends or junctions just the other side.

Things to enjoy:
Local Ales
Local pies
Amazing views
Walking up big hills for even better views
and of course the awesome fucking roads!

Ace. I wasn't entirely convinced about going as I'm off yo Wales in a couple of weeks with a group but it seems worth while to kill a couple of days.

My main worry was that 2 days is too long and 1 day isn't enough (due to the travel there and back).

Does there happen to be a notable meet on Tuesday night's near a b&b and a pub? Thinking

Strangely, there doesn't appear to be a huge abundance of meets/groups/biker cafes in the peaks itself.

Nothing comparable to the Ace Cafe on a Friday that I know of anyway.

Matlock Bath is a big biker stopping place. Whether it will be busy on a tuesday I have no idea.

I did once come across a biker cafe, in the middle of nowhere, but I don't know where I was so I can't give you the location!! (I do this thing where I hit the roads with no directional intention, I just get completely lost taking random turns here and there in the hope to find some proper hidden gems.)

Think my phone has that function... possibly. I'll have a look.

But then it is another to remember to do pre-ride, and I really hate faffing.

Much prefer "Bike gear, Keys, Wallet, Phone, Go."

Did some decent miles today, really enjoying he new bike.

Plan today was to head to ride to Beaulieu, and ride from there to Sammys Motorcycle Museum in the most long winded way possible, exploring as many different roads and routes as possible. Was great fun, plenty of amazing views and animals to see. Some really nice roads, and was good just to be out exploring the area on the bike, rather than just racing through it.

Anyway, had some cake; and a quick mooch around Sammys, then carried on.

https://s20.postimg.org/qwc3md87h/IMG_20170531_160240.jpg

After that, seeing its a Wed, I decided to head back via Loomies as its Bike night. It was absolutely rammed!

https://s20.postimg.org/9a8tvbphp/IMG_20170531_192554.jpg

Went down the A272, then turned off, taking the longest way home possible, finding the smallest roads I could find to explore. The ride home made for some nice views as the sun went down.

Decided on taking a more scenic route home from work, and stopped off at Chasewater, took some photos of the CF, as, don't really take many with the CF in, simply because it's main use is the slog to & from Leicester...

120 round trip for me yesterday. Decided to take part in the SW tag game and as it was close enough, I thought it was a good excuse as any to go out on a decent ride out in the beautiful weather.

Very much took the scenic route, which allowed me to fund some really great roads Smile

No points for guessing where I ended up!

Went for a shorter ride out today with a buddy of mine, who has the Naked mt-09, made a nice change to be out riding with someone rather than on my own!

First stop was good old Portsdown hill. This time managed to avoid being shat on by the flocks of seagulls.

https://s20.postimg.org/bx9h3h3v1/IMG_20170602_184929_1.jpg

Then down to Southsea for some fish and chips.

Nice little evening.

Took my XR out for a bimble, got excited, found my first muddy puddle.

Took cheap morning commute insurance cam along, set to capture pics every 20 seconds. Forgot to remove (incorrect) timestamp and apparently "wide" actually means 4:3. Plus it didn't work well in light, or dark. Rolling Eyes

Looks great paddy, looks like you had a good day! How muddy did you end up lol?

Me and the same guy from yesterday, set out today with one set of plans, and ended up going very differently, lots of riding around the New Forest today, exploring different, good/bad/boring roads. + a very underwhelming lunch at an even more underwhelming pub.

Was good fun and was good to get some more miles under my belt on the bike, feeling a lot more confident again. I need to get better at taking pictures throughout.

Went up to Ace Cafe, on to Ryka's Cafe and then Brighton.

Saw an interesting customised ex-SAS light strike vehicle at Ryka's.
