It was when it was new. I was nearly 2 stone lighter and the bike was all saggy on standard suspension.

Now its got extra hard bouncy bits so I can think I'm Michael Dunlop, it has slightly ruined its long distance capabilities.

I bought a Triumph gel seat which was slight improvement. Then bought Triumph Ultra Thick Mega Squidgy seat, which again helped a bit.....its still shit Laughing

After 100 miles I'm wanting to stop. Which is handy because the tank range is only 130 anyway.

Wouldn't want to do more than 350 miles in a day really.
Wrists, knees, ankles, hips and neck are all good. But my arse, damn. Embarassed

That's how I felt with the gel seat on my striple. It was an improvement, but only small. 100 miles and I was looking to stop. I do miss the hooligan factor of the bike though.

Behind you there would have been the Spa on the hill. Missus Arry and I went there on holiday in June. I ended up getting frisky with her in the balcony infinity pool and we nearly got thrown out Laughing

Tenby is on the up, for sure. Pretty part of the world. If you ever get down there again pack your walking shoes and get yourself to Barafundle Bay. Accessed by foot only, it's quite a walk. But it's worth it.

Had a ride to Ennerdale today. Excellent bacon butty at the Filling Station in Keswick first (four large rashers in one butty, well done, very nice Smile ), then along by Buttermere, on to Cockermouth for a coffee, then found a short cut through Kirkland. On the way in:

Parked up in the little car park, locked lid and jacket to the bike, and off down to the lake. First view:

Fungi by the path:

One of these days, I'm gonna take a packed lunch and just sit here all day watching the light change:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0668_zpsw0dkz0lv.jpg

Colours of sunlit stones on the stream bed caught my eye for some reason:

Pillar again:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0687_zpsgqlh42vg.jpg

One of these days, I am gonna climb it, but probably from the Wasdale side.

I hadn't planned on doing a full circuit of the lake, cos I haven't done this much walking in a day for nearly a year (and last time was here funnily enough, in autumn), but decided I had the energy after all. The other side is a much more rugged path, if a little shorter:

More fungi:

Details:

Sun starting to set now:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0733_zpsia3t3dfi.jpg

Not far back to the car park now; just as well cos I'm knackered by this point:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0735_zps3836alte.jpg

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0740_zps4trvxgj1.jpg

Did this walk (in blue), plus about an extra mile or so at the top of the lake:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0742_zpsfce8ffio.jpg

Thought I'd better grab a couple of shots of the bike on the way home, but my camera can't handle very low light levels:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0745_zpsvt6xn2xe.jpg

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0746_zpsevzhzawo.jpg

One last not very good sunset shot before it got dark:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0747_zpsti731xxm.jpg

Stopped again at Cockermouth for a coffee on the way back, as I hadn't had anything for hours and was desperate for it. Then actually quite enjoyed riding home in the dark.
Cracking day Smile

Yep, definitely signs of autumn's approach, but there are compensations. Better for photography, for the light and more clarity in the air. Walking the fells is more pleasant with lower temperatures, and the Lake District becomes less overrun with tourists, summer holidays finished so less families and kids, less caravans blocking the roads. Shorter days means I can catch the sunsets without having to be out silly late too.

Put an extra layer on when on the bike, and it's still quite pleasant at the moment though. Actually, it was still pretty warm when I started out, and by the time the temperatures started to fall, the walking had warmed me up.

Spring and autumn are the best parts of the year Smile

Local Enfield group run to Matlock today from Northampton, the others have booked into a hotel for a few day's riding around the Peak District, but I have to work so came home again; just short of 200 miles and 79.7MPG Smile

Rode from northern Lincs home to southern Oxon today after a weekend away riding around Lincs and Yorks, up as far as Robin Hood's Bay. Highlight was the evening run back along the Caistor high street yesterday.

Aye, but I think 200 miles is my limit in a day on this bike - the vibes eventually get to you and the single seat offers very little variance in riding position. As the miles go up the vibes are getting less though, so it might get pushed further later on.

Yeah, I was similar to you in that. 200 miles near killed me off when the engine hadn't quite broken in, but would probably be just about doable now it's a bit looser. 150 miles is comfortable though - I'd just leave 4 hours to cover it Laughing

Oh yeah, and where did I go on my bike today? Nowhere, just like the rest of the weekend.

Got a very rude awakening early Saturday morning from neighbour a few doors down, saying she was having 3 tonnes of hardcore delivered to landscape her garden with. Very nice, I said, but what's the got to do with me? Well they've refused to put it out on the road outside my house so I'm having it dropped in the rear access lane instead - so if you want your car or bike out today, best do it now, they'll be here in 5 minutes.

Oh cracking, well thanks for the notice and the consideration of my plans. Dare I ask when you're likely to have all 3 tonnes of this shit shifted? Well it might be done by tonight but it's probably going to be tomorrow night. Yeah great, so if I get my bike out there's every chance I won't be getting it back in again and will be leaving it on the street overnight with no theft cover - lovely stuff, I'm sure you'll wedge me out if anything happens eh?

I wanted to go to Wales or Peak District on Friday and Saturday, but I couldn't get out of bed before 11am, so too late to ride long distances. So instead I rode on local roads...

Friday on B645 (from Rushden to St Neots and back.. a few times, the road really calms me down)

Saturday A508 - A422 - A413 (Northampton to OnYerBike near Aylesbury and back), another route I really like.

Today I couldn't be bothered, it was cloudy all day.

I'll grab a pic tonight if you want - there's still about half tonne of it out there which she didn't need, so she 'spread it around' as if she were doing us all a favour Rolling Eyes

Might park my old Volvo across her front door, and my shaft in her ass for good measure (annoyingly she's quite fit, so instead of getting shirty with her I couldn't help but try give her the chat up instead).

Did anyone here go to the vintage Japanese bike day at the Ace Cafe yesterday and get some decent pics? Would have liked to have attended that one myself. Nothing like that up here that I'm aware of Sad

I'll have to keep an eye on their website.
Just had a quick gander - I notice they run a Jap car meet quite regularly, but no Jap bike meet, even though they say it's a "cafe run by bikers, for bikers" Rolling Eyes

I went out on the Chinese pos again Sunday just for a spin and to get my cup of tea from the burger van at Mistley via Lawford and cattawade.
I did well as I got out and back before the rains started.

All the pictures were taken using my phone.
My phone didn`t have the ability to take a picture of all the Egrets on the fore-shore in the distance, but there were about thirty!
Saw a very nice and shiny BMW RR while I was there and a couple of plastic bad boys with their pseudo patches and Japanese Harley look likey`s Laughing I larfed.
But hey bikes is bikes and each to their own , at least they were on two wheels.

EDIT: if you touch/click on the image it will get bigger Thumbs Up

Thought I would head out on what is now becoming a rare evening off with nice weather. Went to Loomies Bike night. Quite a few interesting bikes out tonight, I think people are trying to make the most of the last dregs of summer.

Sunset...
