I took the Mrs on her first bike outing. We went from Kidderminster to Porthmadog on my BMW R100RT.

Thought I'd give it a good test run before it becomes a long term project bike.

Bit of a catchup since May. Having fallen out of love with bikes. Spent the last few months hooning about trying to find it again. And have Smile

June 420 miles Lincolnshire Striple with Arry.
700 miles Cotswolds Gixxer (Dyrham Park, Buscot Park, Snowshill Manor)

July 2400 miles to Austria and back on Striple (Nockalm Strasse, Grosslockner, Malta Hochalmstrase, Villacher Alpenstrasse all under mostly blue sky, wonderful)

700 miles Sussex coast ish on Striple, Hinton Ampner, Basildon Park...and some other I forget

1200 miles Lincolnshire on Gixxer. Stupidly hot, quite unbearable, but summer is finite so cracked on (caught several wasps while holding my jacket open for miles). Belton House, Gunby Hall, Keddleston Hall, Sudbury Hall, Tattershall Castle. Puncture 100 miles from campsite sorted with a plug that lasted 600 miles.

Cheers Nick Thumbs Up I guess I have to get off a bike occasionally Smile

Grosslockner was stunning, absolutely. But my favourites were Nockalm Strasse and Villacher Alpenstrasse in terms of pure road riding. They were more technical and less busy. So we could just go up and down. Villach in particular got a bit silly Mr. Green

But for scenery, yes, Grosslockner was a bit special. Took my breath away.....no really, I couldn't fecking breathe up there!

From the UK, the main surprise this summer was Lincolnshire. Man I loved that. Brilliant roads, lots of good visibility, bike friendly locals and limited police paying attention where you'd want, around built up areas.
Got given some hints on roads from locals, particularly a stretch they refer to as the IoM course. It's no IoM, but I must have done it half a dozen times. The coastal road is brilliant. The north side has hills and wooded sections. Traffic levels were low and after 6pm, non-existent.
The only obvious issue being lots of farm machinery (to be expected), but with the low land / good visibility, obs and common sense are all that's needed.

Typical fucking Pigeon. Hovers around for ages - you know he's there watching but you can't see him or know where he's aiming and then, just as you turn your back, he drops 8 months of shit down your back without you realising Laughing

I also enjoyed Lincolnshire and had I have had confidence in the bike I think it would have been superb. Looking forward to going back next summer.

Amalfi coast on scooters still my year highlight. The amount of Aglianico and Ham / cheese we got through makes me wonder how those poor little things actually moved Laughing

Enjoy riding with you, hetero life buddy Thumbs Up

Took the gay bike out to a vintage vehicle show with my mate who recently bought a Harley for some inane reason, I was meant to take the CB but its having 'teething' issues.

All cars pretty much, only one bike there (a Scott 2 stroke of some sort), also too many feral Darlo rats wanted to clamber over the bikes so we decided to head off for a little look out.

Stopped at Low Conniscliffe to see how John (guy I bought the F2 off) was getting along with some of his 'projects' heres his K5.

After getting back I took the 750 out for a little test run.

Other than taking the other halfs 125 for MOT at the end of July this is the first time I've ridden in 11 months (disinterest and severing a few finger tendons in May to blame for that) I reckon soon the 750 will be just a nice ornament Razz .

Little Gransden Air & Car Show, in Cambridgeshire. First time I've been but sadly the weather was bad and only got worse. Real shame.

I arrived late (12-ish), had a good look round and was pleased I'd brought a telescopic umbrella even if I had forgotten a side stand puck, which I improvised. The R1 had been sideways a couple of times crossing two muddy fields to reach the parking area. It's lower than the ZX6R so it was a fortunate choice for unexpected off-roading. Not fun though.

There were only two bikes parked up, a nice Harley Davidson and a Santander-liveried R1. They must have got there early before everything turned to mud because they were parked facing the hedge. Turning round would be a problem for them but I came across the riders later and they were together, so no doubt they'll have helped each other. I managed to park my bike facing out but nearly dropped it in the mud.

The car show was interesting and there were some nice planes, steam engines, various stalls and a good rock/blues band. It looked likely that the airshow would be a wash out. I didn't relish slip-sliding back to the road when the departing cars would be churning up the ground even more so I left after two hours. Wouldn't you know it, a YAK 50 suddenly appeared overhead as I was leaving. It was putting on a good aerobatic show but I was on my way. The weather didn't improve so I doubt I missed much. As I said, a real shame for the organisers. I'll go again though. No pictures, it was far too miserable.

Alston and back. Rain most of the way there, but was dry on the way back. Some of the road surfaces on the goat tracks were horrendous, just gravel everywhere after recent heavy rain. Still managed 130 miles, been over 3 months since I'd used the DRZ so had to be done Embarassed Temps around 13c, winter is coming Crying or Very sad

Guildford to Weymouth for a spot of tenting and drinking with Arry.
276 miles for me, over 100 more for Arry.

Stopped at Loomies briefly, but was rammed.

Campsite (Rosewall) was nice, decent loo / shower block. Shop onsite. Easy walk to a nice pub (Smugglers Inn).

Many beers were consumed, had some good laughs.

We were the last to leave....

Next day, home via Kingston Lacy, which was pretty good.

Good laughs, lairy overtakes, some mega roads, KTM was causing Arry some extra work (grips and clutch), some places seen and food consumed.

Good times my friend Cool

The sewage works, yesterday.

https://s25.postimg.cc/t8ps93psf/IMG_2145.jpg

Well, I mean I parked up the service road, took a picture of my bike and the blue, late summer sky with my back to the works, then walked up the hill to the wood. I was hoping to photograph the fallow deer. I got close but they scarpered before I could get a photo. A beautiful day though.

I think what was causing me more extra work was the tumble dryer going off in my stomach Laughing 4 poo breaks in a day's riding Laughing

But yeah, something off with that clutch and having a rotating throttle grip wasn't a lot of fun Confused Laughing

Some of my pics that probably quite closely mirror your pics...

I had the same problem with my 990 as well, the Oxford heated grips it came with weren't gripping the throttle tube any more so it was just gradually slowing down all the time Laughing Replaced with sticky Renthal grips, heated ones are just something else to go wrong plus I prefer smaller grips, same ones I have on my DRZ. Speaking of which:

https://i.imgur.com/LSIDX9A.jpg

Blue one is now a 424cc, I had a go and the extra torque is very nice, but there are a lot of vibrations through the pegs now Laughing

Do love DRZ's... little low capacity and a bit heavy compared to comp, but they serve a purpose. I nearly bought one until someone decided my garage was a well good treasure hole and decided to rob shit.

Definitely need the right roads around you, we can easily string together 150+ miles of twisties, loads of single tracks of course which Cumbria/Durham/Yorkshire are full of in t'countryside. As a sole bike it gets old, gotta have another quicker bike for long distance fast riding. That said I managed to get 105 out of it t'other day which was a record, screaming it's poor head off. I've done about 9000 miles on it and it's never let me down, years of ragging the tits off it pulling my fat arse along and it always comes back for more. The dependability and flexibility makes up for it's lack of BHP Thumbs Up I've been hammering the KTM the past year, 3 tours, 4,500 miles barely done 500 on the DRZ, bearing in mind I'm a proper weekend warrior for the most part.

Had a plan today. Not a long ride though, about 90 miles all in.
Headed down to Keswick and the Filling Station cafe, where I did see this beauty:

https://s20.postimg.cc/xp0ombeh9/DSCN0996.jpg

Big bore kit, Kent cams (the owner went for midrange, so not too hairy a profile - it does start and tick over ok), Keihin 33mm CRs, ZX7R swing arm modded for twin shocks, Yoshi pipe etc, etc. Spoke at length to the owner, who had done the engine build and all machining and fabrication work himself. A bike to be proud of.

Then headed for the Honister Pass. Parked up at the slate mine/cafe car park:

https://s20.postimg.cc/62xx1e2rh/DSCN1070.jpg

Destination, top of Fleetwith Pike.
High Stile and Red Pike in the background:

https://s20.postimg.cc/hqryw6zot/DSCN1008.jpg

Looking down on Honister Crag and Honister Pass:

https://s20.postimg.cc/kkv49nwq5/DSCN1001.jpg

Lord's Rake and Scafell:

https://s20.postimg.cc/5owl230r1/DSCN1031.jpg

On the summit of Fleetwith, Pillar, with Haystacks in front:

https://s20.postimg.cc/rcljc365p/DSCN1040.jpg

Pillar is a bucket list walk for me, trouble being, any direction you approach it from means a bloody long walk in.
Looking down on Buttermere and Crummock Water, High Crag and High Stile on the left:

https://s20.postimg.cc/e8fyzf8z1/DSCN1044.jpg

Buttermere, Crummock Water and Mellbreak:

https://s20.postimg.cc/hfaij2gkd/DSCN1049.jpg

Mini tarn:

https://s20.postimg.cc/dvokta8pp/DSCN1055.jpg

At Honister slate mine on the way back down:

https://s20.postimg.cc/6fpb7hsq5/DSCN1064.jpg

Hey Pigeon, one for you! Smile Honister slate sculpture:

https://s20.postimg.cc/br47s9c8t/DSCN1068.jpg

Actually, it's meant to be an Osprey apparently. I mean, really?!
Then home via the A591 and 595; hooligan time! Twisted Evil
