Just a local blast on the bike, not going to far at the moment as we just entered phase 2.

Took the mutt for his first bike ride today, he was really good and seemed to really enjoy riding along with his head out of the carrier.

Quick post work spin through the hills including over the tops near Holmfirth. Bit breezy but good view of Emley Moor Tower.

Yes, the ruts are more the issue though (no bash plate, always worrying about the sump). These big singles really excel on crap terrain. Nice low down grunt just gently pulls you through anything.

Eventually this bike will get knobblies, bashplate and higher bars. It's just a bit too fresh and nice to tear apart currently.

The 500's as in the Bullet and my CGT are coming to an end so if you fancy one now is probably a good time to try. Like most bikes that often get bought new by polishers there are plenty of low milers around for not alot (Got mine 5 years old with 237 miles on it) . Should you decide it's not for you you won't lose much selling on.

I wouldn't have one as an only bike though, they are awesome but occasionally I want to act a tit at triple digit speeds.

Took the day off, went to Swanage this morning.

Nice ride there via Salisbury - Cranbourne - Bere Regis - Corfe Castle.

Wanted Chips at the seaside but the socially distanced queue for the 1 place open at 10AM was enough to get me riding home.

Wife and daughter were away today so I got a nice long ride out: all the way along the North Norfolk coast, with a stop for obligatory fish & chips. Popped in to see my parents on the way home for the first time in months which was also nice. 175 miles all in.

Haven't been on a bike for a month but the R1 fired up first time and was as brilliant as ever. A-road overtakes are so quick and easy, even in top. It's an '03 though, and I keep wondering what new bikes are like. Cannot afford.

I stopped off at The Shuttleworth Collection which has recently re-opened. Apart from the hangar collection and the gardens I saw a couple of autogyros, and a very cool Hughes 500 helicopter came in and hover-taxied to a spot in the corner by the hedge. Love bikes and things that fly!

There's reasons I love where I live. This is maybe 5 mins from my house. Had a little wander down some lanes, then over the Horseshoe Pass while there's not crowds of people everywhere up there.

120 miles with Pigeon in tow today, out getting to know the new steed. Bloody fabulous thing - honestly, it feels like the bike I should have been riding for donkeys, and I've felt so naturally at home on it that 'getting used to it' wasn't really needed. Love it proper already Wub

Really, really good times. I'm so pleased as the KTM had taken so much confidence from me, and I'm feeling like I'm already at one with this thing.

Well today didn't go to plan Laughing Was heading to take the R Nine T in for servicing and wasn't hanging about.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50112951831_d7bfb82480_c.jpg

Came hooning off a roundabout, 2 lanes down into one, uphill and still cantered over like a motherbitch and I'm throttling up to get past a row of cars and all of a sudden, everything goes wobbly AF. Get the bike stood up and yep, that back end has gone to shit, WTF. Puncture Sad

I'd even sat thinking to myself that's two bikes I've got now with tubed tyres and what a PITA that is. I think I picked up a puncture (and wrote the tyre off) on the KTM less than a week in as well.

Still, managed to get the bike recovered up to Witham and Cannon BMW took care of it for me, despite me missing my service slot. Serviced, new inner tube and cleaned out the mess that the sharps had made, and still only charged me £240. Nice Smile

In the meantime I took a walk around Great Braxted and surrounding villages.

Bit more drama than I wanted for the day but I'm not deaded so yay Thumbs Up

Thought I'd best have a 'big one' to 'get to know it better' so I headed off yesterday morning for a bit of a whopper ride.

Sorted a route out at home and plumbed it into Beeline;it was supposed to be circa 290 miles. Over the course of the day I realised I was going to run out of time to be back for dinner so I cut a few waypoints out and used a bit more dual carriageway to make up some time later in the day. But overall it was an immensely satisfying day with 263 miles covered Cool

Started from home in South Essex and went through The Rodings to Finchingfield, through to Steeple Bumpstead and round Haverhill towards Mildenhall, where I stopped for some lunch:

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50126256863_f63397227c_c.jpg

Place was heaving with smelly bikers.

Then set off in a sort of triangular loop through Thetford Forest (I love it in there, don't know why because it's quite boring long roads without bends but it feels like being in a tunnel and has a sort of eerie but chilled vibe to it) before pinging back out onto the A11 for a short while before happening upon this place:

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50127049542_94753d871c_c.jpg

Then set off through the pretty little villages towards the East Coast of Suffolk and Covehithe which is about to fall into the sea:

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50127049582_de97b5fbdc_c.jpg

Nice scenery and roads:

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50126827836_71ec60a243_c.jpg

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50127050687_ec202cfa4a_c.jpg

Real mixed bag of riding - some fast A road, some bumpy B road, some farm track, some dual carriageway to make up time. Sat at indicated 85 on a naked bike and it wasn't hellish (I'd not want to do it forever, but ~15 miles of it was alright and it's loads better at 70) and 'making progress' through the lanes with some choice overtakes - which this bike LOVES to do with just instant torque and shove - and a good mix of blatting it and relaxing on it taking a pootle.

Filled up end of my road at the start of the day and at the end of the day. 263 miles combined tankfuls and working out the MPG gives 51.2 Shocked . I'd have been lucky to get mid 30's on the KTM.
