A repeat of Sunday's ride around Coniston Water today, but sunnier and warmer.
Western side of the lake, where it was bloody windy:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8516_zps8fiuezf1.jpg

Opposite side, heading back up towards the northern end:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8522_zpslohcwn3r.jpg

Fresh spring green in the woods:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8543_zpsgdyoicy1.jpg

Those woods were carpeted with bluebells:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8551_zpsvpjj08v1.jpg

And the lake from the northern end, looking south:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8560_zpsjxha9j7d.jpg

Headed back via the Kirkstone Pass again, no fancy cars there today. View of 'The Struggle':

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8567_zpslexdg2c9.jpg

And then got a nice rhythm going along Ullswater, roads almost empty by this time. Got to be my favourite time of year here, but I totally failed to do the region justice in my pics. Today was one of those days out that are good for the soul.

Went to the Filling Station cafe, again. Had cheeseburger and chips yesterday, had a breakfast bap today. Felt guilty. Went to Langdale:

Saw Side Pike:

Decided to cut my ride short and climb Side Pike:

Had a bit of a scramble:

Found a Fazer 600 parked up when I got back down. Chatted with the fella about Fazers and fell walking. Rode home. A good day.

Looks a bloody brilliant day!

Halfway through the pictures when you had a "bit of a scramble" climbing Side Pike, I thought "jeez, there is some mountain goat DNA in his past somewhere". Laughing

Tbh, more like a good afternoon, as this morning was spent spraying weedkiller in the garden. Didn't get out on the bike till after 1pm. I was sitting thinking, "no, got to save the new tyres for Spain....but it's another lovely day out there...oh, sod it!" Laughing

There was nothing too tricky in the scrambling, except I thought at one point I'd bitten off more than I could chew on one down-climb; I'm no climber! But I love the feel of the living rock under my hands. Up on those fells is the one thing that makes me as happy as riding the bike. I wish I could afford the petrol to ride/drive there more often, but just as an example, Langdale, where I was today, is over 50 miles from home, so to get properly hill-fit again is an expensive proposition.

Yesterday, by Coniston Water, I got chatting to a guy who'd done a couple of tours in Spain.....on a Harley Rolling Eyes Nice fella to chat to though. I seem to always get talking to people in the Lake District when I stop for a bit. Friendly folks around there.

Am expecting a few more posts in here today, the amount of bikes I saw today was pretty unreal.

Been out and around the Beacons for the day. Did some serious lunges on the A4069. Much nicer doing that road when there isn't 2m visibility.

Green lanes again today. A few novice first timers amongst us. I lead on my Beta 2T, some bigger bikes involved too. We had a back marker, and a middle marker. Middle man was kept busy relaying messages and pulling bikes out of hedges. Laughing

Went on ride today, on the Mash with a mate from Wolves..

Started off on the Bridgnorth Road (A454), then via Colaport and fwe smaller places headed to Ellesmere, had a cuppa & some cake, then it was off to the ponderosa, for another drink, before heading off to Bala lake, and some ice cream. After Bala, went to Lake Vyrnwy, what a cracking route that is, single track, high steep slopes, hardly any crash barriers !!, where we stopped for a cream tea, and I promptly nearly drowned us with my coffee. After that, it was across to Much Wenlock, via a stop at Dinky's Dinah, before finally getting home.

All in all, pretty much exactly 200 very enjoyable miles .. Attached is a rough outline of the route taken ..

Wait for it! Shocked , old Pepperami actually went out on a bike today.
I took the Chinese pos out for a spin to Shotley.
https://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae39/pepperami2/IMG_04781.jpg

You might find it hard to believe but the bike gave me no dramas at all.
since the valves have been done , it is no longer cutting out when I come to a stop after longer spells at high revs Thumbs Up .
the suspension is still pants and the seat is like a plank.
I did approx 55 miles today and that felt like it was enough.

Now I am getting the little niggles sorted, it is almost a usable bike?
I am still of the opinion that the Hyosung GT250 r is a better bike for really long distances (Ipswich-to-Breamar in a day).

I`m going to give myself a radius of 200 miles a day for trips with this one.

It was nice to get out Smile Thumbs Up

Yet another beautiful day here in Cumbria, the warmest so far. First time I've been out this year with only a t-shirt under the bike jacket.

Still trying to capture spring in the Lake District on camera, and decided deep among the fells isn't always the best kind of place to do it, so today I decided to head a little further south and explore an area I haven't looked at before. Destination was Esthwaite Water, which I first did a loop around.

Langdale Pikes in the distance:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8638_zpszj9lbkzt.jpg

Parked up for a short walk along the wooded shore:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8647_zpswoog3gng.jpg

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8653_zpstgxsyakw.jpg

"You lookin' at me pal?!" :

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8662_zpstgmrrp12.jpg

Got mugged when I got back to the bike; "Oi, mate, got any food mate?" :

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8673_zpsxrqssxko.jpg

Now I headed down along a pretty little valley through the village of Grizedale. Good road too. Only a little B road, but it wound up and down and around the hills, all the while with the woodland and little paddocks and fields off to the sides, spring fully fledged in the warm sunshine.

Stopped for a quick snap at some kind of visitor centre:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8676_zps2bimvzaa.jpg

I only pulled into the car park long enough to take about three snaps, didn't actually go into the visitor centre, or whatever it was, itself, but then noticed signs saying, "Car park, please pay on exit - no. plate recognition in operation", so now I'm wondering if they're going to try to sting me for those two minutes I spent there Rolling Eyes

Then the sat nav decided to take me round and round in circles somewhere, so switched the damn thing off and headed back along Windermere (against my better judgement Rolling Eyes ), but veered off up to the Kirkstone Pass:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8679_zpsl9ms5qf4.jpg

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8681_zpsjyddiqly.jpg

And what about this numpty then; "Wouldn't it be a great idea to take an HGV with 40 foot trailer up the Kirkstone" :

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8685_zps1ablsyat.jpg

No mate, it feckin wouldn't. What. A. Twat.

The fragrance wafting up from this woodland on the hillside you wouldn't believe; more what you'd expect in a carefully cultivated summer garden:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8695_zps0jq3wonj.jpg

Looking back towards the Kirkstone from Patterdale, I think that's Middle Dodd in the, er, middle Smile :

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8699_zps7l8sbw0i.jpg

Ullswater:

Another luuurvely day Smile

Was last weekend. Went to Goodwood Breakfast club with Wots. We flirted with a few hedgerows on the way down and drooled over some sausage and exotica.

Today I've ridden to Scotland, all of it through heavy rain.
The a68 was lovely and mainly grippy. My early warnings light I installed was compromised with the drenching so thought the battery wasn't getting changed. Double checked and all ok phew.
Currently pissed up on the outskirts of Edinburgh sharing a caravan with strangers (it's a long story).
Hmm I got zapped so good to know the throttle works.

If you'd gone a week ago, you'd have had lovely sunshine Razz

(Not helping? Laughing )

Like it never rains in Europe...

Also...

scruffy accommodation

That depends on how much you want to spend I guess. I didn't pay a fortune on my last trip up there, and stayed at perfectly adequate hotels. Not 5* perhaps, but certainly not scruffy. Stayed at worse places in France (-Matt's- fault Razz ).

Rode through the New Forest to Beaulieu village. A few nice-ish roads with some nice-ish views and some nice-ish weather. Made for a nice-ish ride out. Good fun being on the bike though!

Went to go down the high street, but some donkeys where like 'naa mate, we were 'ere first.' They showed no signs of wanting to move, so went a different way.

End up at Bucklands Hard for some lunch before going home via a Masonic Lodge (Rogers fault) 👇

The Chinese pos seems to be getting better with a bit of use?, I`m guessing that fresh fuel going through the injector is helping to clear out all the old gummy/sticky fuel ???
