Went on ride today, on the Mash with a mate from Wolves..
Started off on the Bridgnorth Road (A454), then via Colaport and fwe smaller places headed to Ellesmere, had a cuppa & some cake, then it was off to the ponderosa, for another drink, before heading off to Bala lake, and some ice cream. After Bala, went to Lake Vyrnwy, what a cracking route that is, single track, high steep slopes, hardly any crash barriers !!, where we stopped for a cream tea, and I promptly nearly drowned us with my coffee. After that, it was across to Much Wenlock, via a stop at Dinky's Dinah, before finally getting home.
All in all, pretty much exactly 200 very enjoyable miles .. Attached is a rough outline of the route taken ..

Wait for it! , old Pepperami actually went out on a bike today.
I took the Chinese pos out for a spin to Shotley.
https://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae39/pepperami2/IMG_04781.jpg
You might find it hard to believe but the bike gave me no dramas at all.
since the valves have been done , it is no longer cutting out when I come to a stop after longer spells at high revs .
the suspension is still pants and the seat is like a plank.
I did approx 55 miles today and that felt like it was enough.
Now I am getting the little niggles sorted, it is almost a usable bike?
I am still of the opinion that the Hyosung GT250 r is a better bike for really long distances (Ipswich-to-Breamar in a day).
I`m going to give myself a radius of 200 miles a day for trips with this one.
It was nice to get out ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Yet another beautiful day here in Cumbria, the warmest so far. First time I've been out this year with only a t-shirt under the bike jacket.
Still trying to capture spring in the Lake District on camera, and decided deep among the fells isn't always the best kind of place to do it, so today I decided to head a little further south and explore an area I haven't looked at before. Destination was Esthwaite Water, which I first did a loop around.
Langdale Pikes in the distance:
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8638_zpszj9lbkzt.jpg
Parked up for a short walk along the wooded shore:
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8647_zpswoog3gng.jpg
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8653_zpstgxsyakw.jpg
"You lookin' at me pal?!" :
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8662_zpstgmrrp12.jpg
Got mugged when I got back to the bike; "Oi, mate, got any food mate?" :
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8673_zpsxrqssxko.jpg
Now I headed down along a pretty little valley through the village of Grizedale. Good road too. Only a little B road, but it wound up and down and around the hills, all the while with the woodland and little paddocks and fields off to the sides, spring fully fledged in the warm sunshine.
Stopped for a quick snap at some kind of visitor centre:
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8676_zps2bimvzaa.jpg
I only pulled into the car park long enough to take about three snaps, didn't actually go into the visitor centre, or whatever it was, itself, but then noticed signs saying, "Car park, please pay on exit - no. plate recognition in operation", so now I'm wondering if they're going to try to sting me for those two minutes I spent there
Then the sat nav decided to take me round and round in circles somewhere, so switched the damn thing off and headed back along Windermere (against my better judgement ), but veered off up to the Kirkstone Pass:
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8679_zpsl9ms5qf4.jpg
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8681_zpsjyddiqly.jpg
And what about this numpty then; "Wouldn't it be a great idea to take an HGV with 40 foot trailer up the Kirkstone" :
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8685_zps1ablsyat.jpg
No mate, it feckin wouldn't. What. A. Twat.
The fragrance wafting up from this woodland on the hillside you wouldn't believe; more what you'd expect in a carefully cultivated summer garden:
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN8695_zps0jq3wonj.jpg
Looking back towards the Kirkstone from Patterdale, I think that's Middle Dodd in the, er, middle :

Today I've ridden to Scotland, all of it through heavy rain.
The a68 was lovely and mainly grippy. My early warnings light I installed was compromised with the drenching so thought the battery wasn't getting changed. Double checked and all ok phew.
Currently pissed up on the outskirts of Edinburgh sharing a caravan with strangers (it's a long story).
Hmm I got zapped so good to know the throttle works. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

That depends on how much you want to spend I guess. I didn't pay a fortune on my last trip up there, and stayed at perfectly adequate hotels. Not 5* perhaps, but certainly not scruffy. Stayed at worse places in France (-Matt's- fault ). ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Rode through the New Forest to Beaulieu village. A few nice-ish roads with some nice-ish views and some nice-ish weather. Made for a nice-ish ride out. Good fun being on the bike though!
Went to go down the high street, but some donkeys where like 'naa mate, we were 'ere first.' They showed no signs of wanting to move, so went a different way.

This really cant be happening?! old Peppers has been out and about on a bike twice in less than a month .
Today I did go to Felixstowe via the back way and not using the stinky old A14.
I did have fish & chips out of the paper on the sea front, luuuverly
Even in Suffolk, we have a few empty roads, they just are`nt long enough.

The Chinese pos seems to be getting better with a bit of use?, I`m guessing that fresh fuel going through the injector is helping to clear out all the old gummy/sticky fuel ??? ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Unlike other bike trips I didn't take many photos.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C_pH-ZgXYAALduS.jpg
Roads - mainly good (got zapped).
Weather - mainly good but horrendous conditions on the way up.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C_5musFXYAAN4af.jpg
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DAEVQG2XkAANMib.jpg
Locals - good. Filtering is a breeze when so many use mirrors. White vans are still the quickest vehicle to follow through the Trossachs.
Ale - ale.
Reliability - good apart from an aftermarket voltage warning light that succumbed to the drenching on the way up and briefly made my heart sink until i pulled over and double checked it.
Ale - Aye, I'll 'ave another.
Group dynamics - Mainly ex colliers in their late 60s, most ride like complete twats although we did have an I.A.M chap who helped a couple of new to it guys.
Ale - Fuck it I'm already pissed so another won't make a difference
Group riding - hilarious for the usual reasons..dodgy overtakes..back end slides...(un)intentional wheelies.... getting lost and not informing those who blindly follow...pulling over in unusual and often dangerous places...getting bored and blasting past the rest of them...getting lost...repeat when you find them on whatsapp.
Ale - Where is Dave's brandy bottle?
Health - Most of us have decades of manual labour under our belts so nothing was mentioned as it would show weakness. (me bad arm is fuckin' murdering).
Food - 2 of the lads (ha-ha I called them lads!) could open an expensive restaurant and it was roadside fayre when out n about.
Attractions - I personally wanted to ride-ride-ride so left them to it on a few occasions, but did Falkirk wheel with them.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C_9caHeUwAEsXJ_.jpg
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C__BkP-U0AAE_M5.jpg
Dropped in at chickenstrip's place for a natter and brew (lovingly prepared cheese n pickle butty that sustained me whilst I tonked-it back home).
Ale - spoils of war.

End of the drive...
Tinkered for the morning... got myself all ready to go for the afternoon, literally got to the end of the drive and the heavens opened.
Sulked for the rest of the day till work in the evening. ____________________ Riding: Yamaha MT-09 Tracer Occasionally Riding: 08 Suzuki SV650, Potato: 2011 Yamaha YBR Custom.

Went to the watercress festival. Yup, it was as fun as it sounds. Kept the Mrs happy though.
Went home via Ropley Train station / watercress line, saw a few steam engines... Average day was had, but with some nice riding in between.
Didn't drop it today either, so that's a win.
