08-JUL to 16-JUL

1,900 miles

Invaded Europe with 14 other miscreants from SE and SW.

Thread here

Many photo's.....mainly of bikes in Petrol stations or car parks, and many of peoples thumbs.

Many cool roads, many laughs had. Some bad luck (and some good).

Good times, thanks all Thumbs Up

Yeah, it's really sad to see such slack tree pruning, especially in Germany.

Oh, you mean Carvel. Yeah, a beautiful sight. Plus, he was there a while, I think behind the shades, he may have been wincing a little Smile

Quiet on the roads at this time, but the campsites through Borrowdale looked to be doing a roaring trade.
Fish and chips in Keswick, then home.

I was going to slope off for an evening ride tonight but ended up having a dead arm from some shitty blood tests earlier. That sucked.

I didn't go green laning. Shocked

I did however get some fields to myself to play in when I got there, thanks to a friendly campsite manager. Thumbs Up

At weekend I rode my Beta 90 miles to CMA national rally, which was a silly idea, heat tape just about stopped the panniers melting on the exhaust, but it is marked a little. I loaded my big rucksack into a friends camper van which helped me manage.

Yesterday evening went out for a rideout with my L plated bro in law on his XR125., Jesus those things are slow. Laughing
He's been struggling with confidence and won't stray more than a couple of miles from his house. So fired up the Spacker &
took him for a run on pretty much every kind of road he's allowed to use, we did big, little, mini and double roundabouts,
and covered 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 roads. Stopped midway at a pub for a drink break and asked him if he enjoyed the ride
and he said it was 'sick' which I'm reliably informed is a good thing. Thumbs Up

Quick pint of shandy and a little debrief. He forgot to cancel an indicator once, and some of his lines were a little
'creative' but he was alright other than that. Gave him a couple of suggestions of things to try on the return leg which
he handled just as well. OMG I think I imparted knowledge.

Bimble after work 6pm yesterday turned into 180 miles.
Went from Guildford to Salisbury and back via New Forest. Got home 10pm having to acknowledge the terrible truth, which is my Striple no longer gets me excited.

Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable (after all, I rode for 4 hours only stopping twice for fuel). But I wasn't grinning like an idiot, just extremely calm and very peaceful. Which was in stark contrast to the noise and engine violence that befell the South Downs Smile

EDIT: Also, went to Ace Cafe on Sunday to see Haroman666. Dude is legend!
The ride up was unpleasant, the ride back was horrible. 90 mins to do 40 miles is nuts.

The Street Triple isn't about bimbling though. Wrong bike for the job. Take it to some roads that you ride purely for the hoon, when you're in hooning mood, and you might start to enjoy it again.
But I have asked you before: do you have the right bike for you Question

Of the 180 miles, I did 120 miles of my favourite roads as fast as I am capable. I am the slowest of the SE lot, least able to lean and trouble the edges of my tyres. But was overtaking everything and never being caught by anything else.
The faster I went, the more calm I became. I basically felt stoned, but was sober.

Can't ever sell the Striple. Done too many miles and tweaked it to nearly exactly how I'd like. It does most things ok and I'm sure there are many adventures yet to be had.

I test rode a couple of litre bikes and wasn't smitten with them even though they had a lot more power.

As you say, a different bike may be the answer. Or as we've spoken about, something different altogether and park bikes for a bit maybe.

80 terrible miles, but not just for your smiley boat and some awesome sausage. I had to show off my gold brake lever. Very Happy

You were the first and last, the only person to witness the awesomeness. More people saw Jesus turn water into wine.

Have now replaced with black ones.

You don't have any statues in your house do you?

Today I did do errands around the Mistley area.
I thought I`d take the Chinese pos and see how I`m getting on with that Air-Hawke cushion.
I am happy to use this bike now and the Air-Hawke cushion makes so much of a difference Thumbs Up
After the errands were sorted, it was time for a bacon roll and a cup of tea at the burger van by the river.
https://t.imgbox.com/HClUM8RI.jpg
https://t.imgbox.com/B9J9GBff.jpg

Wrabness and to the Golden House.
Grayson Perry was involved in it`s conception and design, and I was part of the team that looked after it just after it`s construction.
now it`s occupied .
https://t.imgbox.com/AYaYdf3q.jpg
Then on home via washbrook/the back roads where the Honley is in it`s element.

Sorry the pictures are on their side, I dont know how to cure that? I`m working on it ? clueless Confused
to small? kin ell! this image posting is hard Evil or Very Mad
Click on the picture to get a better look Thumbs Up
